I mean we know about the boot .... are we absolutely sure the foot is broken and will require surgery? That’s the only kind of foot break that would preclude him being out for the season.

Everyone everywhere have been talking about the boot since just after noon today .... but this is the first we’re hearing about a bone being broken.

Broken bones in feet are a big deal. I broke one wearing too small of a ski boot up in Sun Valley a few years ago. Those require surgery and I guarantee you he didn’t keep playing on a broken bone in his foot. A fracture, yeah maybe, but if it was a broken metatarsal is one seriously agonizingly painful injury. You limp badly, there is no disguising it when it happens.

All of this reeks of bullshite to me. Made up bullshite. I know it's being passed off as some kind of injury but when?! Where?! What?! And why didn't Muschamp say word fricking one about it last night?!

I'm calling major, major bullshite. There's some bad shite going on behind the scenes is what my fear is.

So many conspiracy theories. I tend to agree it could be to just save face. The way Champ is, I doubt he goes into much detail tomorrow either.

It’s gone public and official .... but not for the season.

South Carolina QB Jake Bentley ‘to miss some time’ with injury, per report
BY BEN BREINER| BBREINER@THESTATE.COM
7 mins. ago

South Carolina quarterback Jake Bentley “is going to miss some time” with an undisclosed injury, local radio host Heath Cline reported Monday.

“My understanding is that he’s going to miss some time at minimum,” Cline said. “At least short term Jake Bentley is not going to be out there.”

A school spokesman told The State he could not confirm anything on the injury front. Will Muschamp meets with the media at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Bentley began his senior season at USC by completing 16-of-30 passes for 142 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. He went 2-of-9 for 15 yards and two crushing picks in the fourth quarter, a period the Gamecocks entered leading 20-9. They lost 24-20.

The senior missed one game last season with a knee injury. Michael Scarnecchia stepped in and led USC to a win against Missouri.

Were Bentley to miss Saturday’s game against Charleston Southern, it would press four-star freshman Ryan Hilinski into action. The California product beat Dakereon Joyner for the No 2 job late in camp.

Any estimate on the time frame?

ETA: And God bless Ryan. He is being thrown to the wolves against Bama if he starts that game. Sheesh.

Ryan was told by the staff that this is his team even when/if Bentley comes back. Just throwing that out there

As long as he can throw to a receiver that’s open I’ll be happy.

If he is able to throw accurately to the open receiver I’ll be ecstatic.

Bentley can transfer after a refshirt and then throw for 3000 yards next year like will Grier or Jeff Driscoll

Agreed.

Unfortunate that he couldn't "break his foot" on Friday.

He's still a freshman, and this is a tough schedule.

Leaving out crazy Will Muschamp "Aura" effects, normally there are learning pains.

What are people going to say if he isn't some all world guy from the get go? He could be a future All-American and still finish with like a 50% completion percentage and hopefully more td's than int's.

Considering who we play, and the throws he will have to try for us to have any chance of winning, he's probably got a lot in him.

But at the same time... I'm not even sure what offense we were running with Bentley. McClendon knows what a slant is, but we seemed to avoid anything over the middle for the most part with Bentley.

Be interesting to see how things change with what we try to do.
