Think our 12th game is going to be against Akron. 3-3 with a win against Northwestern but some bad losses as well. Should be easy win.

Just a guess. From what I heard it was Marshall if Marshall lost to Fl Atl this past weekend, but they won.

whenever I think of Akron I think of Journeyman QB Charlie Frye
Wouldn't be surprised if that guy is still on a roster.

Akron? Interesting... does Terry Bowden still coach them?

Rooster just recently posted that he was told no 12th game. Unfortunately I think we're going to need one.

Muschamp tells players they will be playing a 12th game on Dec. 1.

In other news SCRooster named Minister of Misinformation.

I don't know where the information is coming from that there will be no 12th game. Tanner and Muschamp are saying definitely yes. Why wouldn't we? The only reason to pass on this is if we had a chance to be in the playoffs. That ship has long sailed. We are playing. The only question is who the opponent will be.

I was saying as of last Friday I was told no 12th game but .... it was gonna be a big knock on Tanner if he failed this test.

He caught a crap ton of grief over the weekend not being first to ECU or NC State after NCST's loss to Clemson.

He's scrambling now and he's going to have to pay Akron out the ying yang to get them down here but that's the word late today. We're paying for a win rather than strengthening our SOS and RPI to get us up the ladder un bowl pecking order.

Prepare for a Nashville or Charlotte post season.

It's time to worry about Tanner's viability as an AD. I give him three years max.

Remember, I gave Pastides a year in February after his shite show speech to us at the Guardian Society luncheon ... Tanner once again dropped the ball and got beaten to the punch if it actually ends up being Akron between now and when the NC State Clemson game concluded.

I cannot imagine how dead the Brice will be if we bring in Akron for a December rent-a-win just to become bowl eligible. What a sad end to the season that will be. I know Marshall was supposed to be an easy win too — but there is a difference when you close this way just to pad the record on a disappointing season. Far better to get some excitement with WVU or Virginia Tech. Huge if you win & you close the season with momentum- taking some of the sting out of the expected Clemson loss. Even if you lose, you went down fighting.

From what I understood it was never going to be a P5 team

It was supposed to be the best available opponent that was willing to come to our place .... or, if a best opponent was willing to pay enough enough to come to their place.

NC State, WVU or Va Tech were our first choices, or Marshall of course, under the existing contract, but we supposedly knew two weeks ago they were going to avoid playing us if they won this past week.

UCF got a call last week but they were not interested.

Akron will be a last gasp fill-in to get a 12th game in and it's bullshite he couldn't get a better deal done and he waited until now.

They'll be lucky to draw 20k to that game.

Don't get all the hate for Tanner. There is a lot involved in getting an opponent. First, you have to wait and see if an opponent may have a chance to play in a conference game. Secondly, the quality opponent has to agree to come here. No one would be happy if we scheduled this as an away game. Count me in as attending. I love Carolina football and this will be the last time we get to see some of the guys at Williams Brice..

I just hope they’re smart about what time the game will be at. Definitely noon, right?

It’s gotta be.

How else are we all supposed to watch the SECCG?

We called UCF?

Wouldn’t they be playing in the AAC championship game that day?

I mean I know we have to wait but the way they’ve been playing and where they are ranked I totally understand why they would say no

ETA: same could be said for WVU who’s totally not out of a spot to play in the Big12 title game.

Tanner ztuff goes far deeper than this football stuff, look at how he failed to publicize thd men's final 4, he tries to be the good guy with the NCAA instead of standing up, same with the SEC office in regards to the Mizzou and dawn debacle. He also locked us lockterm euth UA when nike and other big names offered competitive offers including Nike, another move that has hurt the basketball program. He held the baseball program hostage to get the job, reaped the benefits Hyman started, and has since been terrible.

Do we know for a fact about the competitive offers or is that just speculation? I disagree about the handling of the NCAA debacle. Some people mistaken being professional with weakness. Do you think a program like South Carolina is going to get very far puffing their chest out to the NCAA? Didn't work very well for Ole Miss. The only programs with enough clout to do that in basketball is UNC or a similar program. As far as Dawn Staley issue, the blame rest squarely with the SEC Commissioner. Ray was dealing with a peer for which there is no leverage. I'm sure he requested an apology but if that doesn't work, what are the consequences? Ray can't sanction, impose a fine or any other punitive action against a peer. The SEC commissioner can but chose to sit idly by until Dawn filed a lawsuit. I agree with you about not taking advantage of the men's final 4 run. Missed opportunity. I'm not ready to say Tanner will be looked at as a great AD, just like I'm not ready to say Muschamp was a great hire. Too early to judge either man.

I didn't know this.

Just assumed UA was giving us more since Nike had so many people already and looked at us as the lower tier.

I mean who in their right mind turns Nike down for UnderArmour?

Dude who the hell is giving you information? Lol This is so wrong. Idk what youve been told, but my buddies that work with Tanner and Muschamp said it was ALWAYS gonna be Marshall again and they wanna play us, but they cant commit until they are out of the running for their 'ship.

Since they beat Florida Atl and this week was kind of a cut off point for waiting to see how they do, we are in talks with Akron about rescheduling.

It was never going to be a P5 school. Literally never was in the conversation. Whoever is telling you this is just someone making shite up.

And since they also told you at one point there would be no 12th game, they are 100% making shite up. That was literally never a possibility
