I love that. People forget but what made those 2010 and 2011 teams so lethal was the defense and their double plays.

GAMECOCKS win on another Eyster walkoff. 8-7

These 2 games are going to pay dividends this season. Don't ever give up, fight to the end and good things will happen.

Oh and frick clempson

Pretty sure that Clemson pitcher, Olenchuk, was the QB at Dutch Fork for like 3 of their past state championships. Good athlete.

You're correct. He can now say he won a state championship in high school and lost to the Gamecocks in college.

Well we found out that we have the ability to beat a lesser team with our talent when we don't play our A game. We need to clean up our defense and stop leaving so many runners on base. It was a good 2 day win but clempson isn't anywhere close to the SEC teams we will face.

31 D1 baseball head coaches make up the USAToday poll. I tend to follow this one, along with the NCBWA poll - more so than the "Valentines" polls from D1Baseball and the likes.

Gamecocks were ranked 20th in the initial poll and moved up 8 spots to 12 after beating CU both games.

Carolina (12) and Oklahoma State (15) are the only two undefeated teams not ranked in the Top 10.

https://www.usatoday.com/sports/ncaa-baseball/polls/coaches-poll/

USC is 6 points behind #9 TCU this week.

baseball polls always have some terribly laughable rankings - which this week are UCLA & Texas Tech still even being ranked at all. Tennessee dropped 2/3 to Indiana State and actually moved up 1 spot in this poll.

Ole Miss, State & Vanderbilt each dropped games this week and moved up as well.

I'm glad to see us moving up this soon. Later in the season it's a slower climb to the top. I'm glad Kingston came out saying it was a good win but it wasn't like we just won the supers. Here is Kingston's interview.

I hate playing in state teams. We are always their CWS and have a chip on their shoulder. I hope we continue worrying about our play and not worry who we are playing.

Gamecocks go to 9-0 today. Brannon Jordan had 11 strikeouts in 5 innings. Our pitching and defense have been dead on the last two games. I want to see that matched up with our offense going off.

Gamecock pitchers combined for 17 strikeouts for the game.

can't think of a better time or place.

Jordan 95 pitches/55 strikes 19 batters faced. the 11 K's was impressive. he needed a day like today. deep counts first time through their lineup but got in a nice groove.

Sanders & Kerry are beginning to pair up in relief roles much like we're used to seeing Gamecock arms shut things down late innings with Carolina in the lead.

Gamecocks were a bit more human at the plate today than they've been in a few games. 7 hits 30 AB. just 2/13 RISP. Sightler's HR went 412 ft @ 106 mph per baseball twitter.

Clarke 1/3 AB w BB. season average at .515 after today. Satterfield 1/3 AB with 2 rbi double. he's hitting a cool .417 which is 3rd best behind Wimmer (.444) & Clarke. Wimmer got on base in every AB today.

I don't see how Kingston can keep Satterfield off the field with what he's done in short order. Callil is giving his best DC Arendas impression at the plate. 2 more K's in 3 official AB.

Fields K'd three times. 10 total K's for the team.

We need to work on cutting our strikeouts down on offense and nit picking but pitchers need to cut down on walks. I look forward to next weekend.

We sweep Mercer giving up only 1 run all weekend. Our offense is struggling but don't need a whole lot of runs with the way our pitching and defense is playing.

Now on to the bulldogs before next weekend at Texas.

10-0

We have moved up to #4 in the ELO rankings. We will head to Texas as a top 10 team or right outside of it.

Longhorns 7-2 since they were blanked vs the SEC in Arlington by State (8-3), Arkansas (4-0) & Ole Miss (8-1) to open the season.

UT won 3/4 over BYU and 2/3 at UHouston. UT-Corpus Christi and Texas State are their other 2 wins.

Gamecocks will hopefully handle business at El Cid Weds. their players hate it the Gamecocks own the crowd at The Joe for a Bulldogs home game each year. GA tickets still available on The Citadel's website and it appears you may buy whatever quantity you please. I suspect there's some sort of attendance limits at the ballpark.

Dogs are now 4-6 after dropping game 3 vs NCA&T 12-1 at The Joe Sunday to lose the series. coach Skole is El Cid through & through, but he's had a rough time jumpstarting the program since Jordan retired. coach Fred actually had a rough couple seasons at the end as well.

Gamecocks lead the all-time series 56-15 over the Bulldogs. Carolina's 17-5 in the series at Riley Park since it opened in 1997. USC's won the last 5 played in Charleston.

Hoping the baseball program is truly "back" and Gamecock fans can finally be excited about something for the first time in literal years.

Hopefully it can bring some more posters back to this board as well. CayceCock always used to do the baseball threads on here and the SECR but haven't seen him in a while for example.

Like you said previously this team deserves some love. I personally think its because we are gun shy as fans. Everytime our hopes get up we get the rug pulled out. I can totally understand people taking the wait and see approach especially with our schedule. Its like they took the top 25 rankings and said " here you go here is your schedule). I think if we are successful the next 2 weekends you will see more people jump on board
