it's happening - we're getting The Pirate. it's the only way any of this media circus makes sense. Leach wants it this way, too.

As fun as his press conferences are, is he really that good of a coach? I mean he has always seemed like one of the more overhyped coaches.

For what he gets I think he is.
I mean he’s won 10+ games and competed for conference titles with Texas Tech and Washington State. I just think his attitude doesn’t mesh well with our culture. He seems to like to take the programs where he can sit back coach and spend little recruiting time.
I don’t think that will mesh well with here especially since it’s all we have in Columbia. This is our pro sport and everything we love. I don’t think TTU or Wazzu have the same passion behind their programs that we do.

that Sombrero though. it's all right in front of us. South of the Border? Florence? The Pirate is on his way to Gamecockland.

Rashad Fenton just picked off Phyllis Rivers on MNF

Here's something pretty cool I saw on twitter:

quote:

SC opened +24.5 vs UGA.

SC opened +24.5 vs Clemson.

UGA was ranked #3.

Clemson is ranked #3.

The UGA game was played at noon on ESPN.

Clemson game? Noon, ESPN.

SC was coming off a bye week into UGA.

SC is coming off a bye week into Clemson.

I don't think he meshes anywhere really. He just has a "I'm going to do what I want and I don't really care" attitude. Some people love it - especially fans - and I certainly appreciate it. But it also leads to him butting heads with administrations and boosters who he doesn't like rubbing shoulders with.

He also has a shite ton of arrests under his belt. WSU led the nation in his first four years.

eta: Let's also not forget that despite all the hype he's only 138-88.. not terrible but not great. Undoubtedly, some of that record is due to the crappy situations he walked into at WSU and TTU... but there were significant drop offs in the years after his two 10-win seasons. He also only has 2 division titles in nearly 20 years as a head coach.

We need someone here with that attitude but can you imagine how our " good ole boys" BOT would deal with that?

...the Pirate would be a complete nightmare here - as much as he's fun to watch from afar.

was looking at this https://www.coacheshotseat.com/WinningestActiveCoachesIA.htm and it's quite sobering how mediocre about 110/130 CFB HC's really are. there's certainly some program builders and clearly a handful of Tier 1 HC's - but the overall pool of current HC's is somewhat blah.

Will Muschamp on Bryan Edwards: He had a scope on his meniscus. He will "probably" miss the Clemson game.

Crap.

Any faint, faint glimmer of hope I had about next weeks game just got crushed.

Folks can take shots at me all day, I don't care.

But when they call out our players, that's a line for me.

I mean Dabo was so desperate to beat us he let Watson out there to play on a torn ACL.

Exactly right. Think about this for one second. Do the tigers keep Dabo if they lose 6 in a row to us? How would the trajectory of our respective programs changed if Dabo sits Watson and they lose?

I said this the other day, and it wraps up in a nutshell the reasons we both love and hate Coach Muschamp. Will is fighting for his job right now. When he finds out his best player can't go last saturday night, he tells him sit out the game. He'd rather protect the player to preserve their chance at the league than protect his own job.

OR Will knows if he gets fired he cash's in on 22 million so where is the incentive to win?
