Personal opinion I think Frank takes a new job and has his new school pay his buyout which is right at 9ish so not crazy...but again Tanner handcuffed us. Not a bad call as when Frank inked it, it was just after the final 4. But I'd let Frank go to whomever wants him and will pay the buy out and use that 9 mil plus some to bring in Pitino or bank it for a men's bbal facility and bring in the guy at Wofford.

I hope you’re right here
I’ve been adamant on here that he’s the perfect fit for a BE school

UMiami is now 9-23 in its last 32 games vs ACC teams. Larranaga is also 70 years old in now his 9th season. his first 7 seasons there were winning seasons (6/7 in league play). he's at risk of having a 2nd straight losing season. he's 46 wins away from 700 in his coaching career so he may try and hang around to reach that mark. UMiami may have other ideas about that.

it would be unthinkable UM wouldn't pursue Frank the next time their basketball job opens.

eta - I too would be all for Mike Young if Frank left.

Didn’t they pursue him before Larranaga?

Mike Young is at Wofford anymore.
He’s at Va Tech. I don’t think he’d leave there after a year
Unless you’re talking about Jay McAuley

I'm a Wofford grad. As much as I love Carolina, please don't take Jay McAuley from us. I suspect he is going to be a great coach and won't be with us as long as Mike was, but give us a few years to train up the next guy and then I'd be thrilled to have him in Columbia.

If frank is fired/leaves at the end of this year I don’t think that’s the name they’d go after

I agree. I think he will have to show he can keep it rolling once Mike's players are gone before any big school would be wise to take a shot on him.

I would like to see them hire Alex English. He is family, has great coaching experience in the pro's and is well known .

I'll stop by on the way home and find out.

I called his wife and she said if money and commitment were right he would take it plus they already have their home in Blythewood.

I'd be interested if his name comes up but he has no experience coaching in college/recruiting. He also hasn't coached at all in like 6-7 years.

works for the SECN after having coached in the NBA for many years.
I don't think he'd take the job.
Has it ever been brought up in the past?

I really wanted Danny Hurley at URI.

Frank's February results back thru FF season

2019-20 / 1-1 (1-0 home) TAM, UTK, LSU, UGA, MSU at home
2018-19 / 4-4 (3-1 home)
2017-18 / 3-5 (3-1 home)
2016-17 / 5-4 (3-2 home)

Gamecocks are 0-3 SEC when opponent scores 80+ points. 5-1 in all other games (lone loss 55-56 at UTK). Minaya's absence was glaring defensively in Oxford. Lawson's inability/reluctance to play defense & rebound on that end is completely magnified without Justin on the court.

To many people have that same thought and expectations. It's time to make a change.
