What about Javon Kinlaw from Goose Creek? Will he play OL or DE?

He's probably going to JUCO.

I knew I hadn't read much on him lately. I saw him play Dutch Fork earlier this year, and he was a man among boys out there.

Muschamp, Roper & TRob all went to visit McIlwain today.

This via Tony Morrell of 247:

quote:

They met with Brandon and his mother and father. Overall, the meeting went well, according to a source familiar with it. The coaches discussed what they plan to do offensively and how McIlwain would fit into their plans. The feeling from both sides is his skill set is perfect for what Roper is looking for at quarterback...

One of the concerns the family has at this point is the idea of class of 2017 quarterback Jake Bentley joining his father in Columbia next season... they do not want nepotism to become an issue. They all want to ensure it will be a level playing field for all involved. I am told Roper made sure they understood that he makes all decisions on which quarterback plays, and that the coaching staff is all about winning games and playing the best players at each position. Last name will have no bearing on playing time.

As of today, I understand McIlwain is leaning towards not enrolling early, but no official decision has been made.

Not enrolling early is bad news.

I agree. I think this brings Penn State and the MLB way more into play. Sounds like he wants a little extra time to think it over, and a little extra time for doubts about Carolina to creep into his head.

Apparently McIlwain's mom is not thrilled that there's a plan B, shame we're covering our basis, right?

And wtf would our plan B be?

Orth? While we further squander the talent sitting on the bench in Nunez?

Plan B so far for this cycle is Austin Scott out of Spartanburg. Thrown for 4600 yds & 40 TD's this year. No power 5 offers though mainly due to his size (5' 11") but has been talked to by P5 schools.

His nom is fine again, Brandon and his Dad calmed her. They are all coming down this weekend. Everythong is cool. The only worry is the MLB draft. He may go MLB, that is a legit concern.
