Yeah...from watching both games, it seems like if you didn't know any better, Friday Ohio State played on their home court in front of their fans, and tonight they played on UConn's court in front of UConn's fans.

They came out firing against us on Friday - I would admit that initially we didn't defend the perimeter that well, and perhaps both Mitchell and Alston was able to get hot as a result and it helped them keep the rhythm all game long. UConn played a bit tighter on the perimeter initially, and kept OSU from starting off firing shots up from long range.

But for most of their game UConn didn't really play OSU and tighter than we did, while late in our game we actually defended the 3 much better. Still OSU was hitting from the arc like it was going out of style against us: when we got up early 17-5, the Buckeyes hit four consecutive 3s from 4 different players: Doss, Holland, Alston, and then Mitchell to turn the score from 17-5 to 28-21.

But tonight both Mitchell and Alston played like they were nervous freshmen playing in front of a rabid hostile crown on a foreign floor, combining to go 0-6 from the 3-pt arc. We also fouled OSU more than UConn did: UConn somehow never fouls opponents like other teams do...

It was a pretty impressive win in a game where the team really struggled for much of the game, especially in the 1st half.

That's now two consecutive games where we look confused against the zone defense in the first half, then make adjustments in the locker-room and come out for the 2nd half and pull away playing much better. The Lithuanians (Chatkevicius & Kacinas) combined for 39 pts and 19 rebounds! Notice also chipped in a big 18 pts including 4 for 7 from behind the arc. Don't understand why we continue to struggle in 1st halves against the zone D, however. Cobb and Silva again had spurts of good play, although Dozier struggled in this game and was constantly pulled to the bench like 5-6 times.

We now will play again next Friday in the Virgin Islands against DePaul in the Paradise Jam Tournament, who is 1-0 with a win over Western Michigan after trailing to them by 11 at their halftime. DePaul will play @ Penn St. tomorrow night...

One of the goals I had for the team this year was to win 20+ games. After 2 games, we are 10% of the way there!

We should get something like this for our locker room, and it could be clemson fan, Nikki Haley.

Chat played his best game of his USC career last night. He was crucial in beating that zone defense.

I really, really like what I see out of Silva, and I agree that he looks a lot like Balkman out there. He and Carrera bring a great deal of energy to the club. Only thing is that his free throw shooting, both accuracy and mechanics, is atrocious.

Silva's shooting overall needs work, but I think he's college ready in every other part in his game as a big man. He's just got to learn the college game, was ineffective the other night due to being in foul trouble. He'll learn from it and get better from it, same can be said for PJ who did not have a good game at all.

I thought we wanted to win? They'd throw games just to keep her covered up.

I love that we have been so damn good at the offensive boards. That'll be huge all year. With that said, it indicates that our offense has seems to have strides of just going cold. They aren't nearly as bad as last year but I'm not sure if we can absorb such a blow against better competition.

Still excited to be 3-0 and regardless of the opponent it is nice to have averaged just over 80 ppg.

Yeah through the first 3 it's been nice to see how well we've rebounded the basketball. Shooting still isn't all that great minus Notice who has played really well in the 6th man role. However I've noticed on offense we don't have egregious turnovers like we used to either. We're also lacking that true PG, missing Ty Johnson has been big so far. Think once PJ continues to adjust to the college game and battle through the mistakes he'll be ready by SEC play.

PJ was pretty crucial to that run at the end of the game where we put it away on several plays, which was a very encouraging sign after his bad start tonight.

LOL, I've just noticed that for the past 2 games at least, whichever Gamecock player was the feature player on the preview game banner for the upcoming game, wound up being the star player of that game. For the Oral Roberts game it was Chat, and for the DePaul game it was Kacinas.

For the Hofstra game, this time the whole team is shown:

Maybe this means the whole team will star in this game???

I'd be down for that.

Would just like to get off to a better start today, Chat & PJ must come to play today. Both have really been key to our team so far this season.
