Didn't realize he had two to play two. Immediate impact WRs are rare in Spurrier's sytem.

We're in on another DE commit now, are in a fight with Nebraska to land Blake McCain. 3 stars, 6'3" 260 lbs

I like his offer list. He committed very early in the process, March of his Jr Year, so a lot of schools didn't off him, but he already had some good offers and the "big" schools who DGAF offered despite his commitment.

They, meaning the paysites, do stuff like this when the class is pretty full and there's not a lot of news. They have to drive traffic/hits. Right now JC from 247 is reporting that we are looking at a 2Star TE who is committed to Minnesota..but we can't confirm that we offered him or anything....

The only new surprise DL that's popped up is the FSU decommit, Blake McClain. McClain is OV'ing to Nebraska this weekend. Spurrier Jr went down to see him today and did an in-home with his family tonight. Jr was hoping to get him to cancel the OV to Nebraska and come to USC instead. That didn't happen so I don't think McClain is coming to USC.

What the heck is up with that? Seems like FSU staff tried screwing-him-over at the last minute with the grey shirt?

That kind of stuff always comes back to haunt you.

I hope we can sign this kid and bring him in with this summer class. I mean we need DEs and here he is, right there for us to grab and bring into the fold. It's like good karma smiling on us.

2014 3 star TE Jerry Gibson will be visiting USC this weekend now. Is a Minnesota commit but people think he will flip to USC. Listed as a TE but he can play running back and he is BIG and has impressive speed for his size, love this find. LINK

Yep, that's messed up. It was a last minute Grey Shirt offer after he's been committed since March and they did it right after his OV. This might have something to do with Wideman, Wideman is being looked at by them as a DT/SDE just like we are looking at him.

Blake said he's not going to commit on NSD and he's going to wait until after a visit to USC in a couple weeks, but it will be b/w Nebraska and USC. Blake's offer list is legit, he had 10 offers from top tier programs, and then he didn't take visits to or entertain other schools.

I never for one second thought that he was coming to USC, so I'm not surprised at all. This was just space filler for the paysites.

Sr Highlights

I don't know about the 4.5 40 claim, he wasn't slow but I didn't think he was that fast. He is an athlete though with a well above par motor. He played both ways his Sr year as a HB/RB/DE. When he was rushing the ball he did a good job of finding lanes and anticipating his blockers work, but he ran too high through the LOS and he would turn his shoulders diagonal too often. He isn't a home run threat with the ball as a rusher. Whoever did the videography and editing on that reel could have also done a better job, it wasn't put together well. He has good hands, he can definitely catch the ball out of the backfield in route. I would classify him as a project offer, he'll need a couple years of coaching before we see if the offer-investment pans out. However, with our limited numbers and the level of talent we're brining in, do we really have the ability/desire to do that? I guess so if the coaches want to do it.

This guy reminds me a little of Kelvin Rainey, but Rainey was an even better athlete and offensive weapon. I'm waiting for Rainey to get more involved in our system, he's a ridiculous athlete.

Sheesh ...watched the film on the Gibson kid. He's got a helluva pair of hips and seems to have great vision.

IMHO he'd make a helluva big safety or Spur. I mean he's got all the tools to play the positions and I believe his speed might be better than some are giving him credit for, unless everyone who went-up against him in those videos are slow-pokes.

You know, that's a good thought, he could play Spur.

Genesis 1 11,12

Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so. 12The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.
