MSN article

quote:

...the Razorback Foundation has implied that the Patriots and coach Bill Belichick could be added to the litigation regarding Bielema’s buyout. Such a tactic would make it difficult, frankly, for Arkansas to hire top-level coaches in the future and for former Arkansas coaches to find employment elsewhere after being fired.

Even without actually suing the Patriots or Belichick, any effort to whittle away at the sunk costs from a failed former coach will make a prospective coach reluctant about landing in that very same spot. The whole thing makes the Razorback Foundation look cheap, petty, and vindictive.

Bigelow made that same point, in more artful language.

“It is obvious that what the Foundation is really doing is seeking improper leverage in a simple breach of contract dispute with a former coach,” Bigelow wrote to Foundation’s lawyer. “As this matter proceeds, you also should consider how it might appear to others for the Foundation to be asserting frivolous claims against and harassing a professional football team for simply providing an opportunity to a fired college football coach.”

The case between Bielema and the Razorback Foundation currently is scheduled to go to trial on June 1.

Funny that just like the lawyer said, I don’t think the Foundation thought this through on ever hiring a good coach.

Was part of the contract he attempt to find employment? If so then thats fair. We just paid Butch Jones bitch arse for years to be a coffee fetcher assistant for our rival and the minute his payout was done he went and got another head coaching gig. Its a dirty game being played by both sides.

Yes, he found a job in the NFL coaching the defensive line for 50k a year. Its clear as day that he is trying to stick it to Arkansas. Is that what other defensive line coaches in the NFL make? I mean you have to see how thats kinda shitty. These coaches are paid very handsomely and are not doing a good job then rubbing it in the schools faces. The schools do sign the contracts but I believe there is verbiage in these contracts about attempting to find equal employment that they are also clearly exploiting.

Probably should read the fine print on the contract. This is a lose/lose situation for Arkansas

Did Arkansas include some type of writing that could have prevented this? Doesn't seem that hard to add something that would have saved them from this. For example, Arkansas could eliminate 500k per year or the equivalent of his future salary from his remaining contract (whichever is greatest).

They probably did, thats probably why they stopped paying his contract. I mean is it legal to go get a job making 75% less money than your counterparts? Sure, but it doesn't make it any less shitty. Its not like he was doing some great job at arkansas and wasn't given a fair chance.

You hate to see it.

Tennessee is already known as butt chugging NCAA secret witnessing losing-to-Alabama-14-years-in-a-row losers.

Don't add welching on your obligations to the list.

Were talking about arkansas. If he's legally right we will find out.
