If they are having winds like we had in the Birmingham area, then my gosh it’s going to be hard to control. Prayers for everyone down there. Dang

Prayers for rain and for the strong gusty winds to die down so they can get it contained. There's also a bigger fire in Santa Rosa County NE of Pensacola Bay that spread to 2000 acres today due to the strong winds.

I’m hearing from my old office the 30A fire was from a meth lab, shocker.
Pcola fire and a Milton fire as well.
This is crazy. Wind is high where I am just down the road.

I am in Orange Beach right now and the smoke column is huge. Yesterday was a red flag day. That is a wildland fire warning that indicates the conditions are right for extreme fire behavior. The wind is going to die down today but the relative humidity is still going to be in the 20s. It will be another hard day for the folks trying to contain it.
As far as a cause, don’t be surprised if it turns out to be some guy just burning yard debris. You get California-like fire behavior on red flag days and we are not accustomed to those conditions in the south.

There were fires in Escambia, Santa Rosa, and Walton counties. Living in Okaloosa, I was blocked by fires I could see the smoke while driving home yesterday. Wild.

I thought I read it was from a "prescribed burn" that got out of control.

I’m pretty shocked if it was a meth lab in 30A.. that’s not exactly what I would
Call meth country.
Call meth country.

Bo7, the 30A fire started north of Hwy 98 in the "low rent" area then jumped 98 due to the winds.

Somebody had a meth lab in Green Hills in Nashville. Definitely not what I would consider "meth country."

Drive a mile or two back from 30-A and let us know what you find

Reported to be “illegal burn” fires. Didn’t see a mention of meth labs.

The fire near Milton was bad enough to close a section of I-10 yesterday and today. I haven't heard an update on the Santa Rosa fire today but yesterday evening they evacuated quite a few houses on 30A. More than 500 homes were evacked. 33 homes were destroyed.
