100%. Comments about Trump aside. If I owned a business waiting on my money and saw Pelosi standing at home in front of a $24,000 refrigerator, then I’d be pretty furious.

On the other hand, can he afford the $500 per day fine with a limited customer base coming in and several of his staff not wanting to come in?

I get it but it’s not like the guy is giving the middle finger to everyone and calling the virus a hoax. The guy is being as respectful as he can on the basis that he’s taking precautions and he hasn’t gotten the relief money.

And it's the complete polar opposite about how a society is supposed to function.
It's the equivalent of the entire herd of antelope stopping their migration because one of the oldest and the sickest fell down.
In the age of social media outrage and emotion driving almost all major decisions, that's what we've done.

It is, and it's a very, very complex one but nobody wants a complex answer. People say trite things like "If it saves just one life it's worth it!" but deep down nobody actually believes that.
Cost benefit analysis even in regards to human life is absolutely necessary to run functional society, even though people don't want to think about.
We have a country of 340 million people and there are meta considerations that impact everyone, both now and in the future.

Fair question and every society makes these kinds of determinations...its the purpose of a society. Lives arent priceless. The parents of boomers went to a foreign land to go get gunned down on beaches to preserve freedom. Now boomers have sacrificed everyone elses freedom just to reduce their risk of dying at an already old age

It's as trite as the "every life is sacred" argument that's been trotted out for years in the abortion debate.

I'm going to repeat some points I've made in other posts.
I realize that most people, including you, have forgotten this, but lockdowns for a novel virus do NOT save lives and they're not really intended to. That is NOT what "flattening the curve" is. The purpose of the lockdowns delay enough deaths a few months, or into the second wave so the hospitals can handle the load. There is still no treatment. There is still no cure. There is still no herd immunity. Once you've protected your hospitals, it's time to move to the next step. Keep your high risk people quarantined. Make sick people stay home, and everyone else with a pulse should start trying to dig the country out of it's worst economic hole, well, maybe ever.
All those high risk people are STILL going to die unless you quarantine them from society until there IS a treatment, a vaccine, or natural herd immunity. It's actually pretty stupid to force tens of millions of healthy people into homelessness and poverty until then.
