Interesting. I've seen plenty of people saying me night not qualify at all. What's the big deal if he can enroll early?

I mean, I understand the advantages of enrolling early, but why would this be some kind of deal breaker?

I mean it's true that he might not qualify at all. But most are expecting him to get what he needs on the ACT to be qualified for the summer

The issue about him being ready for next week is an A&M one. We can't hold a spot for him if other guys want in between now and February

Gotcha. I was hoping you guys would just pass on Jackson and hold a spot for Evans, then he would end up not qualifying.

But, seriously, how is him qualifying supposed to worked out in time for him to enroll? I thought he was going to have to take the ACT again in February.

We have two spots left for basically three players.

t.u. transfer offensive lineman Javonne Shepherd
McKinley Jackson
Zach Evans

If Evans isn't ready and the other two are, he's left out.

No one has really given a concrete answer on how his most recent ACT test went so we really don't know right now

Not sure about that. Really up to Evans, eligibility is only an issue if he makes it an issue.. but he’s been good at creating those so far.

Personally I’d love to see Jimbo pull in another option (Bradford/JUCO/grad transfer) & let Evans play his hand into the fry line @ some fast food chain.

It's not like we're done exploring other options: Taking a page out of Herman's playbook and recruiting a back out of Arizona.

Any chance Sheppard walks on for a year? The Baton Rouge kid (Mike Williams) we took from Texas last year walked on this year.

I doubt it, but Jimbo convinced 2 recruits to go JUCO last year and that they would have spots this year. Mowry made the grades and joined, but Ellison seemingly didn't make the SEC requirements for grades.

If he's not immediately eligible then I could see Jimbo convincing him to go to Blinn so he can play and be immediately eligible the next year with a scholarship waiting.

But if he has the grades to transfer then I don't see him going JUCO or taking a walkon spot.

As far as Evans situation with his grades. Nobody knows what's going on except for the schools, he's not talking and his family isn't really talking either. He already graduated highschool, so either its taking time to process his scores and get them to TAMU, or he just doesn't have the grades to get in. There might be some loop hole to allow him to start taking classes somewhere this semester while not being on scholarship and allow him to retake his ACT during the semester so he qualifies, but who knows.

Shepherd is no slam dunk. He doesn't get a spot at A&M unless Evan's decides he wants to go elsewhere.

Good luck to LSU getting Evan's to humble himself after turning down Orgeron's high pressure pitch. Evan's doesn't want to play in a passing offence.

He gonna be Jimbo's bell cow.
