So what do you think the school's cut will be?

No way these universities are going to allow these kids to profit off a jersey that has the school logo or other trademarked items without taking their cut.
Could schools use it lure 5stars to their school? "Alabama takes 15% we only ask for 5%"

Schools will take almost all of it.
I bet they make you pay until your revenue exceeds scholarship value.
Then they will split it somehow. I would imagine they would control the revenue and ensure tax compliance.
A 20 year old kid is not going to understand quarterly estimated tax and the like. Somehow it will be a quarterly payment with taxes withheld.

I saw a senator wanted to start taxing their scholarships as income. Which when you think about it would be legal to do now.
Are universities going to have to add office space to help the players handle this money? You cant have tax evaders playing for your team. How much will that cost?

That’s not what this is about at all. This is about letting these players hold camps in the summer, getting paid by EA Sports, show up at a car dealership and sign autographs, etc.

This opens a whole 'nother game of dominoes. Be interesting to see what the rule details are and then if say, Ca. which started this up and says nah, that ain't right. And Basketball, lordy.
Nobody knows what will happen but if the fans and alums are turned off there goes college athletics Christmas. I say the big leagues in all sports need to form an expanded minor league system and start signing kids out of high school so you can get all those out of the way and let real students sign their scholarships and compete in college.

You think the university is going to let kids sign stuff with their logo on it without getting a piece you are crazy.
This only grows from here. Yeah maybe a freshman can only get an autograph signing or a little EA money but what about a 4th year 1st round QB on the Heisman watchlist? Or a 1 and done cant miss freshman pg? Nike wants that kid in commercials. And I promise you the university wants it's cut too.

Are you saying the Universities shouldn't get a cut of their trademarked property? Because if you are, you're fricking stupid.
The school's cut is guaranteed in their apparel contracts.

Imagine how harmful that will be to all the other students on scholarship
The Senator that proposed that is a bigot & a racist
There are only 85 FB players and 13 MBB Players, so at a place like Michigan, this racist Senator is trying to target 100 Athletes of which maybe 70 max are Black but along the way he's gonna seriously hurt the other 60K students at Michigan
Whatever taxes are put on FB schollies will also be levied on Academic Schollies
An idiot kneejerk reaction from a racist Senator pandering to his MAGA hat wearing crowd that hates to see a fair & level playing field in America
BTW ,folks on your job have tax issues, has your company added office space to help them--- OF COURSE NOT
They'll pay taxes on their Endorsement Money just like all the other guys in the NFL & NBA, wow that sounds beautiful just saying it

No shite. Do you think this is somehow controversial? What do you think carries more value, the university’s trademarks or a player’s last name?

Fatboy made the same point as you and you called him fricking stupid.

Corruption will abound. A car dealership who is in cahoots with a donor will pay a blue chipper $100,000 to play at their school while the next guy gets $1,000. Basketballers will get the larger share because there is less players to spread the wealth. And will certain schools contribute to the kitty through 3rd parties. Winning is the name of the game and winning means money. Downvote away but you can't say this will not happen.

1. The schools will sell the jerseys and probably work out the same deal NFL Teams have with players.
2. This will probably be monitored And standardized by the NCAA
3. People are acting like endorsements and team licensing haven’t existed for decades. It’s been figured out. They’ll either wear team colored generic clothes. Branded clothes of the advertisers. Or if the school wants free pub, their school uniform.
4. You think Bo Jacksonnpays auburn when he signs a picture of himself playing at Auburn?

It’s all about the Benjamin’s men! Look at the tailgate guys. Profit over 5M+ per year and the schools get a percentage. Each year these snakes take up more and more tailgate spaces used by regular fans.

Depends on when and where the photo was taken.
Look at it this way. If you were famous for something and you just happen to own a Yankees shirt that you wore to a photo signing event, you would not owe the Yankees any money. Now if youspecifically places the Yankees emblem on your pictures then yes, you would owe them money.
