Auburn and Oregon will kick off in primetime on a major national network.

The Aug. 31 season opener inside AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas is set for a 6:30 p.m. CT kickoff on ABC, it was announced Wednesday.

The meeting is only the second between the two schools, which last met when Auburn knocked off the Ducks 22-19 to win the BCS National Championship in January 2011. Only two people with direct connections to the BCS game remain on staff: Auburn coach Gus Malzahn, who was then the offensive coordinator; and receivers coach Kodi Burns, who caught a touchdown pass from Cam Newton in the title game.

Interested to see if we rotate Gatewood and Nix that game. I'm sure we won't know who the starter until the opening series, Gus will make Oregon prepare for both.

Yes. Gatewood in the first half, Nix in the second half (after Auburn is winning by 5 touchdowns)

By doing what? Watching the spring game?

We will run Gus offense regardless of qb. Screen passes, runs up the middle, and throw it deep on 3rd and long.

I mean they are really similar. Is there really any difference between them to change preparation?

I think not

What Gus should do is announce one as the starter so they only prepare for one.

Then play 5 QBs (one being the FB of course). They’ll never see it coming.

THAT is what the Malzahn offense is supposed to look like.

Get the ball to guys in space, not necessarily the guy the play was called for.

ETA: Kodi was not that talented a WR, but man did he juke the safety on that play

It's amazing what having a mobile QB, that the defense is constantly worried about taking off can do for your offense. The reason Kodi was so wide open was because almost the entire defense was looking at Cam.
