The points are nice. Pinson has also been awful.

He hasn't been great. We lose the end of games because of guard play. We may have to pay players like the blue bloods

As a season as a whole, neither was great and neither was horrible. Again, I think the key will be to keep players here for 4 years. By year 4 I think both will be players you can rely on.

Speaking of staying for 4 years...does Tilmon go this year? I don't think so but wasn't sure if there was any word out there.

Not to the NBA.

Watson, Smith and Smith should be a good back court next season

Pinson took over the game today at times. Ole miss guards played like a team needing to get in the tourney with upperclassmen guards. Tilmons 4th foul was unreal....blew the whistle Before anything happened. Didn’t decide the game, but absolutely atrocious call

Pinson was good today and don't forget we have another smurf guard coming next year in M. McKinney. Tilmon still needs some help inside next year besides Jackson. Hopefully Jontay will be back. Either he will or the G League here he comes. I see they are going after another 6'5 2-3 in Myron Gardner for next year.

I’m beginning to think this won’t be as long a stroll in the wilderness as I though. Pinson has some serious potential, and like a lot of freshman was up and down. Watson though, the way he came on to end the year has been quite a revelation. Transforming from a guy who hangs around the perimeter to a guy who utilizes his athleticism is a very good development. Tilmon, I also think is coming along with a more complete game and he can truly be a beast. Pickett is a very solid role player also. Mark Smith as a spot up shooter. Add all of that to McKinney, Dru Smith and Jackson.

I think the ceiling is fairly high next year, and a reasonable chance of getting at least pretty close to it. Starting to assemble some pieces.

Pinson has to learn how to defend. Yes he put up 20, but his guy got 18. 8 over his average. A summer of weight training should help with that.
In contrast Watson held Davis to 6, 10 below his average. His defense over the last 6-7 games has been really good, and so has his offense.

Mizzou has to find a 4 that can play maybe that’s Jackson, otherwise next season will be a struggle as well.

That was what drove my first comment in the thread. He also had a hard time getting through the pressure from OM.

We could run a lot of 4 guard sets next year. I know Cuonzo prefers not to, but with our depth at guard you may see quite a bit of it.

Lets see what the roster looks like first. Jackson has the ability to play on the perimeter a lot. We will see if he can do that as a freshman, or if he’s more like Watson and takes most of his freshman season to get there.

Watson has been the best player in the team the last 5 games. Nice close to his freshman season

Issue with most of the freshmen is strength, they just need to get stronger.

The future looks good.

Your starting lineup next year is:

Dru, Mark, Pickett, Jackson, Tilmon

That's 30x's better than what we started tonight.

Off the bench:

Watson, McKinney, Pinson, Nikko.

That's a good foundation.

I still think 2020 is when we should expect a top 25 team.

With how Watson has closed the year I would bet he’s surpassed Pickett. Though both will get minutes so it may not matter who the starter is

I would say we probably see

D Smith Watson M Smith Jackson Tilmon

Pinson, McKinney, Pickett, Nikko and one of M Smith/Santos will also get some minutes. And you still have Dobbs.

I wouldn’t be entirely surprised to see Pinson starting at the point either.

Idk about G League. Teams don’t draft someone in the first round to go play in the G league. He’s still projected as a 1st rounder.
