If the best player on the team doesn't care enough to even play, is it a surprise the rest don't care either?

Pathetic display of football.

There is nothing about Deebo's decision that kept the head coach & staff from preparing the team to play a football game.

"treat it as an injury" ~ sound familiar?

ETA - there are a few coaches on this staff that deserve to work in the new ops bldg ....will Muschamp isn't one of them.

Day after the wreckage edit - I get what your saying about the team taking on Deebo's approach - you're right. I'm pure livid at all the coaches for not handling it all in manner that prevents what we witnessed yesterday. They better figure it out because players sitting out will only occur more in the coming seasons.

Mushcamp should be commended for stabilizing USC football in short order. He's clearly oraganized and has a plan for the program. Unfortunately, few games on Saturdays follow script from start to finish and WM struggles greatly with that dynamic of being an effective gameday coach.

You want changes? Don't give them money and don't go to games. Until Ray is gone, I'm not doing either.

In the psychology game there are many views of leadership, and lack of leadership.

As we grow up and mature emotionally, we go through several stages of moral development, from the simplest (be good: avoid punishment) to the most complex (understanding universal ethical principles).

Sometimes people get stuck at an early stage of moral development, perhaps asking of every situation, “What’s in this for me?” In such cases, it is the person in the leadership position who benefits, to the detriment of the people he or she leads.

This lack of moral character, leadership as it were..seems to be sweeping through college football.

I want to know what Bentley has on Muschamp that keeps him from benching Jake. What scares me most is Hilinski won't be given any kind of chance next year and we waste a year of his career.

I know, right?

I mean Bentley had only been hitting 65% of his passes, for 290 yards a game, with 20 touchdowns to 6 interceptions his last 7 games. Just crazy to stick with him since he was having a bad day.

So because he had a couple good games doesn't mean you leave him in when he is having a bad day.

Bentley started playing good after Scar beat mizzou so let Bentley sit a series or two and see if that helps...couldnt hurt any worse. Even the damn announcers were talking about him locking in the receivers unlike he did in the clempson game.

" He played good the last few games, I know he is sucking today but lets keep him in as a thank you for playing good before" WTF!!!

Side note: The wr core sucked to so its not all on Jake but after he saw them drop passes he lost all confidence and went to shite.

Our coaching staff got it's arse handed to them yesterday. If I didn't know any better I would have said kurt roper was calling plays. We were ill prepared and made zero changes throughout the game. That's on Will!

Yeah, I know nothing about sports. You got me. Not like I played or anything lol. And no, I'm not his mom. Sigh.

But back to the point, Bentley didn't have anything to do with the stupid play call on 4th and 3 inches. He didn't have anything to do with Ty'son leaving his feet on 3rd and 1 and getting knocked back. He didn't make Vann drop a couple sure first down passes. He wasn't the one almost snapping the ball over his head almost every other play the first half. He wasn't the one getting whipped up front causing us to have no run game at all. So at halftime, I'm not sure how you could lay much blame on him and want him replaced then.

The second half, yep he made about 4 dumb arse throws. 2 were picked off, probably one other should have been. I can't speak to what the announcers were saying, I was in the stands, not watching on tv. But he was the quarterback that had carved up the Clemson team and had 7 good games in a row. He was still our best chance to stage a rally. You want to complain about not benching him in the 4th quarter, fine. But it didn't determine the outcome of the game. All that would do would have been to embarrass our likely starter for next year and showing him the coaches didn't have confidence in him. You know, the same thing Muschamp was blamed for at Florida when he kept benching quarterbacks.

And lets not pretend Scarn was a miracle worker against Missouri. If not for the monsoon, we got whipped that game.

I went back and removed the part about sports and being his mom because it was wrong and immature. I will blame it in the flu but sorry I said that.
I agree that there were quite a few issues. New center was not smooth, running game stayed in Columbia and the wr group was horrible. What I'm stating is that Bentley lost all his confidence due to the drops so why not put another qb in for a series to see if you can calm Bentley down. I don't see why you say he was our best chance because honestly we will never know because the coaches didn't try anything different. Everyone knows Bentley is an extremely emotional kid and when he starts getting upset you can forget about it. Not trying something different is just an acceptance for failure.

I could agree with that completely. And I was too passive aggressive with my initial reply as well, apologies. I just got annoyed by the comment on him having something on the coaches like he was some scrub all year not deserving of the job.

To me though, pulling him yesterday would have made it easy to point the finger at him for the loss. The whole team deserved blame, coaches and all. I'm sure we're all just frustrated.

Bentley is easily the most talented qb we have this year. Next year maybe not. When the announcers are commenting about him locking in on the receiver then its a issue. Bring him to the sidelines and calm him down. If we're going to lose at least lose trying everything. Next season's schedule is going to be rough. I almost wish we could just jump ahead to 2020.
Lets face it as Gamecock fans its a pretty low time.

At least we don't have to worry about the media blowing us up as a darkhorse next year.

I sadly think this is true.

I think Hilinski is already better. Look at Clemson, kid beat out Bryant.
If Hilinski truly is the elite prospect he should be able to beat out Bentley day one, because Bentley... ain't that good.

But I think Muschamp is still part of the old guard with QBs.

I trust actions over words and unfortunately Muschamp's actions are backing you up.

Lets be honest about this coaching staff: We have a brand new oc who has never been a oc before. Now bmac may eventually become a great one but learning to be a oc in this conference is hard to do. We have no full time wr coach and it shows. Running back coach was brought in due to his son and ties to the state ( funny how he wasn't that well liked by other coaches in the state when he was here). OL coach is the best of the bunch.
DL coach is a linebacker coach that tried to get out of town last year. LB coach hasnt even reached puberty and I'm starting to think he might be Muschamp's 3rd son. Secondary is trob and BOOM, lot of injuries but freshman look good. DC has never been a dc anywhere.
So we have a hc that was fired from his previous job and both coordinators have never held that title before. The SEC is not the ideal place for on the job training.

Ideally you want to get an OC with some experience in big boy football. The problem is those guys are few and far between... at least the ones you want. Sometimes you have to roll the dice on someone new.

Y'all had an OC who went through some growing pains this year and it showed. I know how it goes, our OC was coaching his first year in the big leagues and he was out of his depth for most of the season.
