Ok FCS teams that play in the championship game play 16 games.

1 thing will force a 8 team playoff, Megaconferences. When the Big 10 and SEC go to 20 teams (and they will), the Big 12 and ACC will be weakened. The Pac 12 is already having problems and their network just isn't working. This gives the SEC and Big 10 a huge advantage, and those advantages translate to better football.
They will expand to 8 teams otherwise the SEC and B10 will fill 3 or 4 of the playoff slots every year.

I agree with 6. top 2 get a bye to reward what are likely the best teams with the best body of work, and the others get a chance to show they belonged if they can knock each other off and face the 2 behemoths at the top of the heap.
More playoff rounds could equal luck winning out over strength. I like that college football doesn't have that.
On the other hand, I like that college basketball does have that.
