2018 UCF was Auburn’s 2009 Utah

It was a lose/lose.
We’d just beat both our rivals asses silly only to have the SEC POY half speed for the SECCG and lose that. So now there’s nothing to play for.
Where as UCF is undefeated and playing to show they belong. We run up on a fake arse Baker Mayfield and some kid with a hand like DJ Paul who’s unblockable.
If we win, we were supposed to win but no playoff. If we lose, we didn’t care to be there because no playoff. Not to mention Carlton Davis and Kam Pettway to a large shite on the team, too.
Man frick that game.

Only difference?
There was, at best, a VERY tiny group of people crowing about how Utah should have been playing for the title that year, despite being the only undefeated team at the end of the season.
This year, the SEC hate is so strong you've got media people crying about it.

It reminded me of Bama/Utah in 2008 as well.
All due respect to UCF, but the least motivated bowl performances tend to come from teams who almost made it to the big show, but had to settle for a relatively meaningless consolation bowl.
UCF had everything to play for. Auburn had little to nothing to play for.

Yep. Always feel bad for whichever team gets to face the Cinderella small school. No credit if you win, lambasted if you lose.
Anyone who thinks UCF belonged anywhere near the playoffs is either blinded by SEC hatred, or is simply an idiot.
