or fatass, or Arnold, or dumplin'.
I've done it since day one and I'll admit to being one of his biggest detractors, but I think the time for the personal attacks is over. It was funny at first...cause he is fat and always looked more like a Bert than a Brett...but he's a man with a wife and new daughter that is seeing his career slowly circling the drain. At this point, the ending is inevitable. I will refer to him only as Brett, although muscle memory in my hands will be hard to break. I hope others will follow. Let's show some class this go around and hopefully it will spread to other boards. Perhaps we can salvage our image as a fanbase and save some face. Let's not kick a man while he's down and let's not throw gas on the dumpster fire. He knows things have gone to shite and he sees the writing on the wall. I feel for the man regardless of his current income or buyout. No one likes to fail and the bigger the stage, the more the embarrassment is amplified. Let's take the high road for once.

I don't care about his employment status. He's making $4+M to put on this shite show every weekend and will be getting close to a $6M buyout. He'll be ok. With that said, he needs to be fired yesterday and can go frick himself.

When you really think about it, it DOES suck to imagine millions of people watching and judging every move you make at your job, calling for you to be fired every time you fail, people talking about your job performance on TV, and everyone thinks they can do it better. When applying that pressure to any other job the thought is really stressful.
That being said, they're paid more than 99% of us will make in a lifetime to coach a game for a living and I'd do it in a heartbeat.
Back to the OP - I didnt call him Bert for a long time because I thought it was petty and disrespectful as well, and at that time I still had some hope left for him as our coach. I think it's a good idea to go back to CBB/BB/Bielema/Bret now that we know what's gonna happen.

Not like the guy will ever be hurting for money. That's the big difference between him and regular guys like the rest of us if we lost our jobs.

I've taken to calling him Bert for some time, even back when I had hope he'd turn things around here. But its time to go with a more respectful CBB.
The sad thing is, you can tell the guy cares... he's just completely out of his depth right now. Everything that has worked for him in the past, and he's been very successful at all stops before he got here, has fallen on its face in the SEC.
Even his laziness was a bit of an asset in the Big 10. His philosophy of don't overwork the team before the season starts and coast the first few weeks before coming on strong at the end of the season worked up there because he could do that.
He's rich and if goes that route he could make a lot of money as a talking head on TV. He'd be a lot better then some folks out there now when it comes to calling games or sitting in a studio. Lets get to the end of the season and then part company with him. Hopefully we have better luck with our next coach.

True, and I'm in no way advocating for him to be retained. I just don't think he deserves the personal attacks and name calling. It's was pretty benign to begin with, but has become more vindictive and mean spirited over the last year. He seems like a good guy that's just in over his head. I think the outcome has already been determined and I don't think our opinions will change the timeframe.
Is it obvious that he's not the man for the job? Yes!!!!
Does he deserve to be attacked and maligned as if he harmed us or our families? No. I feel for the man. And I certainly won't begrudge him for not resigning and making us pay his buyout. Business is business. We signed a contract and should fulfill it with a smile. In turn, he should accept it graciously and move on without any shite talking or bad mouthing.

Yeah, I agree. Question coaching ability as much as warranted, but personal attacks are not really cool. There's probably a poster or two that weigh more than CBB here on the board. I'm not in perfect physical condition either.

When Fatass Arnold verbally dogs a player/players in front of the media, I have no fricking problem calling him Fatass Arnold.
