We really need a draft taking only trench players for year.

Why are the falcons picking players from Montana State?

He had a 2nd round grade.

This is why the Falcons are the Falcons. Jesus Christ. With all of the line of scrimmage talent in this draft, they pick a WR who runs like a designated hitter.

Just as a reminder that you hated the Terrell pick a couple of years ago.

I don't have a big problem w/it. I would of preferred they draft LOS there but frankly they need help everywhere and their WR room was the worst in the League

I know, but it’s all hypothetical. He played in a garbage conference against garbage competition, making him a complete unknown. I like known competition from the third round and up.

Every scouting service had him a 2nd round grade. Don't know what else you want. It wasn't a reach.

Go look at the Pats draft. Talk about trying to be smarter than the room.

I did. I whiffed badly on that one.

I value LOS play significantly more than WR play. I'd have rather had Jordan Davis at 8. He is a unicorn who solves run defense all by himself. Good WRs can be found all over the draft, and this team's defensive line has sucked a horse cock for most of the past 20 years.

My biggest concern with London is that all of his highlights are him making these incredible contested catches. Tells me he struggled to separate against the shitty defensive backs in the Pac 12.

ETA: I'm of the belief that if you're spending a top 10 pick on a WR, he needs to become Calvin Johnson or Julio Jones good to justify it.

I did not want WR at 8 either.

But once the entire draft playsed out, I have to objectively say it was a very good draft.

Several impact players were taken and the back end seems to be filled with guys who can compete for time as well.

Not sure you can ask for much more.

Ridder is the wildcard. If hecturns out to be a starter in this league. People will look back and give this draft an A grade.

I* would never pick a WR in the first round. Superbowl winners Rams, Bucs, Patriots, Chiefs.....no 1st rd WRs.

I hope the guy has a great career. The falcons have completely wasted 1st rounders so many times it would be nice if they just pick more players that turn out to be worth a damn

I dunno about that.

Since 2010:
2010 19 Sean Weatherspoon Linebacker Missouri
2011 6 Julio Jones Wide receiver Alabama [w]
2012 — No pick — — [w]
2013 22 Desmond Trufant Cornerback Washington [x]
2014 6 Jake Matthews Offensive tackle Texas A&M
2015 8 Vic Beasley Outside Linebacker Clemson
2016 17 Keanu Neal Strong Safety Florida
2017 26 Takkarist McKinley Defensive End UCLA [y]
2018 26 Calvin Ridley Wide Receiver Alabama
2019 14 Chris Lindstrom Offensive Guard Boston College
2019 31 Kaleb McGary Offensive Tackle Washington [z]
2020 16 A. J. Terrell Cornerback Clemson
2021 4 Kyle Pitts Tight end Florida
2022 8 Drake London Wide Receiver USC

So outta 12 years:
2010, 2011, 2014, 2016 (pre injury), 2019, 2020 and 2021 have all been solid or pro bowl players.

Also, I'd argue, we have spent a good amount of picks on the OLine and Dline in the last 3-4 years, they just haven't panned out amazing.

The Falcons have generally done alright in the 1st round. Not a great track record but not terrible.

The 2nd and 3rd round misses are what killed Dimitroff's era. Those guys make up a large bulk of a roster.

Absolutely right. Also, can someone name a DE that has been good in ATL in the last 30 years? The last DE I remember being streaky was John Abraham. I either hated him or loved him. He'd disappear for 0 sacks in 8 games then get 6 sacks in 2 games.

I literally can't think of another DE that has been good in 30 years.

Patrick Kerney and Chuck Smith were the first two names that came to mind. Sad.

Patrick Kerney. Great recall there. I loved that guy. Holy cow. I had to go wikipedia and he was from like 2000-2006, so basically during the Vick era.

Yea Kerney is the last favorite DE of mine and that time. Crazy that's been basically 20 years ago. So in essence, we haven't had a GREAT DE in ~20 years.
