Yea, I'm not sure I get all the laughing about this other than it's LSU and they already proclaiming 3 different coaches the next kings of the SEC.

Kelly is a solid hire. Consistent winner at a high level who recruits well in a difficult environment.

I don't think he's gonna take over the league or anything but I think LSU will be consistently Top 10/15 good again.

It is a weird as hell fit though. I'll be curious how long before he pops off at LSU fans and/or they want to murder him. It's very combustible.

Kelly is a good coach, but it really feels like the whole LR to USC thing to me. Both coaches at traditional power houses, both with multiple playoff appearances and failures. Both likely to get the hot seat treatment soon if they don’t get over the hump. Now both have new contracts and more cash and a reset on the playoff clock. Maybe I’m crazy.

I don't think it'll take long. I seriously don't know what to think of it. It's just a really weird hire. Not a bad one. Just, weird. His entire career has been spent in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana. He's 60. He's the kind of conservative coach they were wanting to run out of town on a rail not even 5 years ago. Like, I'm sure the story will go that he was always their #1 target because every coach who has ever been hired was the #1 target of the school who hired him, but surely this is the result of Riley fricking them over, a few other guys turning them down, and their AD panic offering a comically huge contract to the biggest name who hadn't laughed at him when he called to gauge interest.

Kelly is the opposite personality of LSU.
