May want to consider getting just across the line into TN and you’ll have no state income taxes.
See, I want to go North enough to where I might as well do this. Why pay income tax? I'd rather be in GA but money talks.

What's the reciprocity like with carry permits and lifetime sportsman licenses?

If I’d grown up in GA, I might not care as much about the higher taxes (just because I’d be accustomed to it). But when I’ve calculated taking better job options in GA in the past, it never ended up being worth it after factoring in the income taxes.

We got the high sales tax here, but at least that’s optional to when I’m actually purchasing something (and then, just go buy in GA if it’s something expensive). Personally I much prefer the high sales tax over having an income tax.

Concealed carry permits are reciprocal between GA and TN. I’m not very informed on the reciprocity of hunting / fishing / sporting licenses… all of mine in years past have been specific to TN. I’d have to do more homework on that.

Carry is fine, I know they have some reciprocal licenses in regards to fishing but not sure on hunting. Out of state Ga hunting licenses are cheap af compared to a lot of states and would be made up in a week's check of saving State Income Tax. If I were looking in TN I'd be more interested in the Knoxville area just west of town on 40. Beautiful area up there, and not too far from the Ga border.

Lew, I’m in Hoover, we are looking to do the same thing - I’m looking at Pell City, Wedowee and also the Albertville/Guntersville areas Alabama (we probably wind up in Pell City, away enough for me and big city enough for the wife)

Wedowee is where a bunch of wealthy people from Georgia are moving and it’s awesome

Pell City is very much like part of the suburbs of Bham (45 minutes out in I 20) with anything you could want

I think you’d be wise to look at the Tennessee options for no taxes or look at Lake Guntersville in Alabama, it’s north & just across the Georgia line; very close to Chattanooga and. Birmingham, so your wife can do big city shopping without too much headache when she wants…
