Gordon, Catoosa and Whitfield counties in NW GA are generally considered affordable. Particularly around Trenton, Chickamauga, Dalton and Chatsworth. I’ve looked at buying land in Gordon Co along the Cumberland Plateau in the past since it was competitively priced to property on the TN side.

Most of the folks I know in Dalton are not crazy about the school system (Whitfield Co). Place has seemed like a crime hotspot as of late. Lot of gang activity is often in the local news.

If you prefer the Blue Ridge Mountains, I really enjoy Hiawassee, Blairsville and Clayton. The wife spent a lot of time in Clemson this year doing medical contract work so we stopped at these towns often during our commutes. But I don’t know much about what land runs in these areas-I just know I wouldn’t mind living there.

Dalton and Chatsworth

My old stomping ground and when I go back to visit…man it’s gotten rough. Not the same as back in the day.

I always thought the land between Calhoun and Chatsworth on 225 or along 411 up by Carter’s was pretty. Rolling but not too severe. If I came back I’d shoot for that or something near Ellijay.

BTW had a lot of good times at Yesterday’s in Chattavegas back in the olden times.

Grew up in Spring Place and Dalton. My dad still lives in Tunnel Hill.

I can't imagine living up there voluntarily.
