Interesting stats Doc, thanks. I wouldn't have guessed that

Does this include Alabama going 0-3 vs. the East? Or 2-0-1? They forfeited both wins and their tie against Eastern Division teams that year.

imo the east will edge us out this year. arky is so bad they will cost us 3. moo state will cost us another 3 as well.

Florida will beat Arkie, of course.
Ole Miss may have a letdown.
Kentucky would need a major upset.
Auburn should win.
I figure 2-2 here, bringing the season total to 5-3.

Tough one. Vandy will take MSU, but LSU-Florida could go either way. I'll say the East goes 1-0-1 here for now, then divide the tossups at the end. West record so far is 5-4-1.

Oct. 18, Arkansas at Kentucky
Oct. 18, Mississippi State at Tennessee
Oct. 18, LSU at South Carolina
Kentucky, Tennessee and LSU should win. 6-6-1.

Oct. 25, Georgia at LSU
Alabama and LSU should win. 8-6-1.
quote:
Nov. 1, Kentucky at Mississippi State
Nov. 8, Arkansas at South Carolina
East wins both of these. 8-8-1.
quote:
Nov. 15, Georgia at Auburn
Could go either way. 8-8-2.
Dividing the tossups, it looks like 9-9. SEC championship game to break the tie.

Nah, I'm going by J. Howell's lists, so I've got it as 2-0-1.
I mean, hell, if Auburn has a 1957 NC, and OU has a 1974 NC, then why shouldn't Bama get those wins? If you start taking away wins for cheating and teams on probation and stuff, it would just end up throwing everything way off. Where would you draw the line?

No, it doesn't. If you include those--and the SEC championship game results--then it's almost a dead even series between the two divisions. The parity is amazing.

Interesting stats Doc, thanks. I wouldn't have guessed that
1.) West leads head to head since 12 team league
2.) West leads head to head all-time
3.) West has more NCs
4.) West has more SECs
5.) West has 83% of its teams in the top 31 All-Time Programs.
6.) Reigning NC is from the West
7.) West has TWO different teams currently ranked #2 in different polls.
A question was once asked....."If I'm the worst team in each division over the last decade, let's say MSU and Vandy, who would I prefer to play every year?
MSU: Ole Miss, Auburn, Alabama, LSU, Arkansas.
Vandy: Kentucky, South Carolina, Tennessee, Florida, Georgia.
Just looking at that I think I would prefer to be MSU in the west."
Well look at the results.........
Since the SEC expansion in 92.......
MSU vs West....25-54-1 or 32%
MSU vs East....22-27-0 or 45%
Van vs West.....7-41-0 or 14%
Van vs East....12-68-0 or 15%
In both cases, the West was tougher.
People.....We been brain washed by the media. The East IS NOT BETTER than the West. It's going to be the same thing next year. The East this the East that. At best, the East is par with the West....Defenetly not better.

I would be comfortable drawing the line at forfeits that are declared as part of the punishment. Auburn's wins in 1957 weren't forfeited as part of their probation punishment, but Alabama's wins in 1993 (except their bowl game) were. A forfeit is a specific punishment tailored to address a specific circumstance in which it is deemed warranted to strip a team of a win (or tie). In Alabama's case, it was using an ineligible player (and a damned good one, too), so I think it's fair to take away those wins.

That 9 game advantage the West has over the East is largely attributed to the fact that they have Vandy and UK in the East.
Take a look at the bottom 2 of the West versus the bottom half of the East for the bulk of those years
OM and Miss St>>>>>>>>>>>>>>UK and Vandy

For the purposes of this thread, it would be an absurd thing to do. You can keep your records how you want, but for any reasonable discussion about who has beaten whom since '92, taking away Bama's wins makes no sense, nor does counting SECCGs.

I think Shelley looks great in purple and gold. In fact, she was wearing a P&G shirt just last night over at my house.

Next time she is over can you get her to talk Urbs into getting rid of Mullen?!?

quote:FWIW, Alabama and all schools in the SEC acknowledge those as losses. It's your thread and your records, but by no means did Alabama win those games.
