Finley said a call a few weeks ago from Newton was a big one for him and his mindset as he now prepares to make his first Auburn start against South Carolina on Saturday night following a season-ending injury to Bo Nix.
“Right before he got signed (by the Carolina Panthers), I think it was a week before he got signed, he called me and we went through a devotional together,” Finley said of Newton. “I don't want to say the things that he told me, but there was a lot of stuff that we talked about. I know I could get emotional about it right now because the things we talked about came to fruition.
“He’s one of the most inspirational people in my life. I have looked up to him since I was a little kid. To say that he’s reached out to me as a little brother and helping me throughout my path of college football, it means a lot to me. I pray me and him continue to have those conversations and things like that. Cam is one of the most inspirational people I have talked to recently that has helped me out with my walk in college.”

Cam gonna sneak in wearing Finley’s jersey and put up 60 on south Crackalaky and uat? There’s a reason we signed someone the same size.

Did Cam know Bo was going to snap an ankle?

Don't know about you guys but sounds like Cam put a hit out on an ankle
That's a joke. Calm down.

Man it was still fun! He didn’t care we lost as much as he loved the gameday experience.

MAYBE, thinking generously among Auburn people, the "things that came to fruition" were being fricking READY when his opportunity came?
But then, of course, you could be a bitch and think that Cam or TJ or anyone else was hoping for a season ending injury for a kid that (though not very good) was trying his best, which wouldn't be unusual for many of the Auburn (so-called) "faithful" who've come to hate Cam and stab him in the back.
Because that's what you're saying? Right bitch? You wanna back down now or say it clearly and out in the open?
Or are you gonna equivocate and deny it?

Back up QBs ( or any other position ) have to be ready. Not just to suit up and run onto the field, but be ready for ALL that comes with taking over the # 1 spot.
I'm guessing that's what Cam was referring to , and not specifically that Bo would break an ankle.
Look at uga. JT Daniels had an injury and then nagging other issues... he 'could' have played, but Kirby was impressed enough with Stetson Bennett, and decided to ride that train. uga is now 10-0, and JT has effectively lost his job.
It happens.
