I love how Jimbo was a trash overpaid coach until LSU decided they were desperate and know they can't land any true tier one coaches.

actually, there are several attainable coaches I'd hire before him.

Ed O for example, worked last time.

THIS! The irony for LSU is astounding! And now, much like Texas, LSU is having a hell of a time getting any of the very few proven and tenured HCs to even pick up the phone when the see a LSU Tiger caller ID.

Scott is shooting for a splash hire. Issues is...none of the splash hires have ANY interest in going to what Ed O turned into a cease pool of a program. Just go ask Texas Austin. They have gone through this 3 times now! Thing is, I will admit that LSU has a leg up on Texas Austin when he comes to selling the LSU program to a new coach.

You watch Tigers, your new coach will be unproven. Maybe one of the questionable rising stars like Tucker but no way in hell Jimbo or anyone near his status is taking Scott seriously when he comes begging and pleading. Sure Scott wishes he had stayed at A&M where he can recruit coaches much easier.

LSU needs to follow their own game plan like they did in 2019. Keep bumbling, clueless, unintelligible Special Ed as the face of LSU football and hire two real football combed to run the offense and defense. Save millions. LSU is still under the delusion they are a “dream” job instead of a dumpster fire.

You’re right Jimbo is gone in about 15-20 years. Not sure who Ags will go after at that time. We will have plenty of options.

Let’s look at history…you hired Saban from MSU before he was Saban. It worked out, but he left. Then Les Miles…he was fired and y’all F-ed that up…no one can deny that sh-t show. Then there is Coach O…he found lightning in a bottle, but what a disaster now. So in the last 20 years or so you have not hired a splash hire…we could keep going back further, but it would get even more embarrassing. What you have going for you is the talent level in LA, but hiring splash coaches isn’t.

Believe there's a different AD now, Chief.

And I don't really want a splash hire, just a coach that isn't a moron.

A lot of college football coaches and staffers seem to think LSU is a really good job.

Guess you better tell them they're wrong.

I can always smell the fear when a poster starts wishcasting and making up stories.

Especially when said poster struggles to put together coherent sentences.

If you go back to the Saban hire he was nothing like what we think of Saban now. He had basically been a .500 coach for several years and then went 9-2 at MSU and LSU hired him. Miles was similar, his overall record at Oklahoma State was 28-21. Neither Saban or Miles sniffed a Conference Title prior to LSU and were mainly middle of the pack teams.

Both were considered good hires as they were young coaches with potential but certainly neither was a splash hire. Ed O was of course a coach with all kinds of baggage who had shown flashes but certainly he wasn't a hot commodity.

LSU has never really had a splash hire at HC. That has worked as splash hires suck just as often as they hit though (Hell Fran was as MASSIVE splash hire at A&M). In the end it is usually about more than just the coach, it's about the resources and commitment they have backing them as well.

I don't see Riley, Fisher, or Dabo coming, there's really nothing that LSU can offer them that they don't already have despite what the homers say.

My list would look like:

1. Fickell
2. Aranda
3. Napier
4. Tucker
5. Kiffin

Fickell isn't an option. He's a native of Ohio and will stay in the general vicinity
Aranda would be a good one.
Napier wants the job as much as Oregon did, so he'd work his arse off
Tucker I have no clue about. His offense would probably drive LSU fans crazy
Kiffin has a great offense. It remains to be seen if he can put the rest together

I honestly hope y’all hire Napier.
I don’t like seeing all of these other programs sniffin’ around a guy who belongs in Louisiana.
The guy is good.

I said last year when UTex was looking to make a hire that Napier was the one guy I hoped they didn’t score.

It’s rare when the stars align, such that both the job and the guy are available at the same time.
LSU/Woodward would be crazy to let this opportunity pass ‘em by.

Don’t let it happen, Scott!

Billy Napier | Louisiana HC
Napier has interviewed with TCU, and is one of the hottest names in coaching right now. His desires to one day coach in the SEC are pretty well known. That being said, He’s turned Louisiana into a G5 powerhouse, taking them to a 36-12 record (including 8-1 this year).

Um, Scotty is a Louisiana native and LSU alumnus. Im pretty sure he’s happy to be at his current school. So far, his two hires have been pretty strong. You are absolutely talking out your arse and know nothing about what’s going on. There is positively no way in hell we are getting a coach that hasn’t proven he can win.

To date, this is the most important hire for Scotty in his career. Frankly, I have a hard time believing that Jimbo is coming here. Nevertheless, anyone can make up shite and post it. Nicely done idiot.

Whatever they offer it will be matched or better by A&M. Stop wishing
