I have tons of respect for those who serve. My grandfather served in Korea on the front lines despite attending the University of Texas and not a&m (it's not like it's a prerequisite like so many of you dorks, who also never served a day in your life, believe it is). But the "at home sipping tea" narrative is hilarious. Exactly what you'd expect out of a student body who's still jealous they weren't smart enough to attend Texas

My son goes to a HS in Austin named after one of those "fake army" guys (that was younger than me) who died fighting in the Middle East. Another one of my "fake army" buddies just retired with a star on his shoulder. My "fake army" Dad served 3 tours in Vietnam and is buried in a Military Cemetery.
Were there Texas folks who served and still serve? Absolutely and I respect the hell out of them for doing so. Some very fine officers came out of Texas. It's just they are a very small number in comparison to A&M and Texas absolutely is a place that has a reputation for being less than supportive of the military.
You want to make fun of Aggie traditions? Fine. You want to make fun of our football record? All good. Making fun of guys that are still the largest ROTC detachment in the US and has produced countless heroes that protect our freedom by calling them "fake army" is pretty weak.
