complain all we want about briles, but I will take the unpopular opinion that our Defense sucks, and it began when SEC teams once more realized that all they needed to do was throw over the top to open up the run.
Odom isn't an incredible coach many claim, imho. But we also lack depth still. Year 3 is make or break.

No they didn't... Up until the end KJ had all day in the pocket
We were running the ball well in the first half and kinda went away from it

quote:what game did you watch? We never went away from the run. Our last touchdown was on the ground. Hell we were still running it on that last drive. We probably could have ran it less

I had them at 7-5. You can't beat Auburn and the refs. We are showing the depth issues right now as the season goes on.

I don't think most of the calls Briles made were bad, but we got beat at decisive moments in the game soundly. That having been said trying to throw the ball from our end zone when they had sacked us the play before was an atrocious call that dramatically altered the game.
Defensively we made adjustments to stop the run and for the most part it worked. We still gave up horrifically bad deep passes and had some real head scratcher defensive calls down the stretch.
Considering how little success we have had on 4th down perhaps kicking might be a wiser choice going forward.

We played terribly today. This 4 game stretch has been brutal. Good thing we get UAPB and a bye week now.

460 total yards but stupid play calls and shitty execution at times put us in 3rd and long much of the day
0-3 on 4th down and every one of them were stupid play calls, although I still think that Rocket picked up the first one and it was a shitty spot

No we didn’t.
We put up more yards than them and didn’t throw an INT.
We had terrible play calling in crucial situations.
We’re an undisciplined rah rah team with really good skill position players and we continue to give up and give away bad plays.
No pressure on the QB for majority of the game doesn’t help either.
Coaches did a shitty job this week. Bottom line. Hard to blame players when you outgain them significantly.
Calls don’t help but that didn’t decide the game.

State and Missouri will be our best chances for another SEC win. But I have a feeling that the Missouri game will determine bowl eligibility.

Mizzou will be an Ole Miss style shootout.
Their defense is awful. But if we do dumb shite all day like today, they can beat us.

We gave the ball to our rbs 16 times in the second half... I think it should have been more. We ran KJ way too much
Auburn had three sacks. The one before the fumble td, KJ held the ball wayyyyyy too long

We were all griping about KJ not running at half. Just seems it’s always at the wrong time and it’s like the defense almost always knows what we’re doing.
Or KJ just makes the wrong read and it kills us.
Don’t know what it is but it’s hard to watch.

I'm not trying to sound crass, but how are you not effectively saying he can call a good game until it counts? Briles can move the ball down the field, but Briles can't figure out a way to score when he's close to the goal line?
Reminds me of Bert

quote:Yeah if you’re 2005 USC you don’t need to worry about third and fourth down execution but it’s important to almost every other offense I’ve seen.
To me, if you're good, you probably won't be in a position where you need to get out of 4th-and-whatever.

At the end of the day, this game was lost for a multitude of reasons. We continue to play the wrong players. 10,17, 55 offense, 22 are not the best players at their position and continue to hurt the team. Secondly, 4th down killed us. Should never kick a 53 yarder with an 18 year old. Special teams killed us again. Letting a punt drop at the 25 to bounce inside the 10 cost us the fumble TD. I believe this staff can provide stability but the rest remains a question. This team has talent.

Briles is a offensive drive killer. He is stubborn and loves throwing the ball behind the line of scrimmage. Those are wasted plays that don't work in a conference like the SEC unless you have superior talent.
