Every team loses kids to graduation/injury/whatever. Our o-line is worse than any of the teams we’ve played so far - that’s on coaching

It is but its also on not having enough elite guys to be able to split reps without a dropoff. We get more high end guys than most, but fewer than we need given the competition we have. Injury has been rough on the line, as has dufusses who thought they were ready to go pro but werent. didnt help anyone.

Having a backup QB that’s been with you for 2+ years and can’t execute - that’s on coaching.

Or you have really missed either on evaluations or on getting the guys you want. I think the portal has really wrinkled this up, and ultimately it may hurt Fisher more than most coaches. Top kids want to play now. His system is not conducive to that, as it sits. The sign that Calzada wasnt the guy was the fact he didnt bolt when he lost the job.

I don’t think that explains why we’d be willing to swap lines with with Kent or Ms State that seemed to hold their own against our “elite” d-line.

Agree with your QB assessment. A kid fresh off a spring competition for the starting job should look better when called upon in game 2.

Do you see any coaching changes there as a result?
