It’s kind of hard imo to fully diagnose them because of how Florida ran the ball. They still seem to lose track of the ball sometimes which results in silly looking penalties, but I think they’ve been decent in coverage.

The tackling and physicality has been sub par though.

I would say that our cbs have played pretty well for the most part, with the exception of Jobe failing to get his head around a few times. I realize they are taught to play the football “in phase.” Our safeties have not been as consistent. The safeties, especially Hellams, had a bad game against Florida.

Not sure why our run of having just absolutely elite safeties ended. Sure do miss having a guy like HCD or Landon Collins back there.

Yep, Lane will show us what we got for better or worse. I suspect our CBs are solid and our safeties are average. Really wish we had at least one elite safety but thus far I’ve not seen it.

Like others have said, CBs have been pretty good. Been really happy with JAD and Jobe has been solid other than the grabbing.

Safeties were awful Saturday but I don't remember a lot of issues the other 2 games.

Don't feel like I've noticed Branch/Moore a whole lot - good or bad.

JAD, Moore & Branch appear to be pretty reliable. Jobe usually does a pretty good job, but he commits too many PI penalties. Battle is usually solid, but didn't play as well as usual vs UF. Hellams & Wright are too inconsistent -- make some plays, but whiff badly on some too.

Not sure why any OC doesn't just throw the deep ball on every play. We would get a PI more times than not

If this were NCAA 14 I’d have Mckinstry at star, Moore at FS, and Branch at SS. Hellams and Battle are just onlookers.

If you go watch the two point play against Florida, Drew Sanders played it perfectly, and it’s a good thing he did. Battle has outside contain (QB pull) responsibility on the play, but he’s ball watching the entire time and just drifts inside. If Sanders takes the back and Jones pulls it he would walk into the end zone (Christian Harris basically drifts backwards and invites a block on this play btw). Jobe can cover anybody and isn’t scared to tackle, but like almost every other corner we’ve ever had, he’s going to commit PI on a deep ball. Haven’t seen a mistake from JAD yet, he looks good.

Don't forget to throw Eddie Jackson in there. One of the best safeties Bama has had after he moved from CB. His pick sixes vs UGA and A&M and the punt return vs Ole Miss are really fun to go back and watch.

Pretty confident Moore could be that guy this year.
