The Big XII adds four okay football programs, and we're stuck with Texas

Since Texas football died with Colt McCoy's shoulder:
Double-digit win seasons: 1
Conference championships: 0
Fake national championships: 0
Losing seasons: 4
Record against new Big XII teams: 1-2
Charlie Strong tenures: 1
Even in Texas' one 10-win season, they managed four losses.
Every team the Big XII added has 2 or more double-digit win seasons in that timeframe, and one of them even managed a fake national championship.
Someone needs to tell Sankey this is a football conference not a bean counter conference.

At least the board won't be trashed with posters from UCF.

Texas sucks and it’s frick them forever and always - but they’ll eventually do alright in the SEC - if they don’t well then I’ll still enjoy my front row seat

Yet they've still won a National Championship in the new millennium.

How well the teams do on the field has nothing to do with how conferences shake up. Do you thing if accomplishments on the field mattered perennially mediocre A&M would be in?

Pretty clear we have some people still ignorant about this decision.
Texas in the ACC would have given that conference the ability to stick around. Meaning that it is a threat in 4 different SEC states
Texas in the B1G would have given that conference an anchor in a talent rich state
This was pretty much having them in the SEC tent pissing out of it
Instead of them on the outside pissing in
Not much these other conferences can do. I guess the B1G can wait until the ACC GOR ends.
But UNC, UVA and GA Tech won’t change much.
This decision just goes to show how selfish the A&M fanbase really is
They would screw this entire conference for their own benefit
We know Texas in the SEC hurts A&M but them outside of it hurts the other 13 schools and could eventually hurt A&M as well

How many recognize them when you hear University of Texas as compared to University of Houston, University of Cincinnati, UCF, or BYU?

JustAnother, you make some interesting points and good arguments. Re the above though, I think you miss. Yes we are stronger if texas continued floundering and sinking, and the SEC is definitely a lifeline to them. But the BIGGEST shock, dismay, anger from A&M was from an honest belief (disbelief maybe?) that they would ruin the conference, and that the ither SEC schools didnt understand what they were getting into.
Ask Mizzou, ask Nebraska, ask Colorado, and ask just about every other B12 school. They are a bona fide cerified CANCER as a conference “partner”.
That is NOT a “selfish” view!

Texas drew 2.88 million viewers on Saturday..
(the highest rating for P5 vs G5)
Oklahoma drew 2.53 million viewers..
(the second highest rating for P5 vs G5)
Texas A&M, BYU, UCF & Houston (combined) 2.89 million

You are living off in your own reality. They just won the Director’s Cup and continue to make more money than anyone
There is no way you can kill Texas. You can hurt them in some areas but they will just regrow in others.
Too big of a state that is still growing. A&M fans should understand that.

I appreciate that no one is even trying to argue that Texas is actually better at football than 3 teams that were in Conference USA when I started following CFB.

Remember when BYU waxed Bevo’s arse?

For the last 10 years, Texas has won 54% of the P5 games. Even if that is better or worse than each of the other teams, that is not good.
Texas will get better.. maybe that is this year. Maybe it isn’t, but Texas will get better.
