How many people do you think have alters on this board?

I’m not talking about people who have been banned and had to make another or forgot their password I mean People who log into multiple accounts and have conversations with their self? Pio is for sure one

There is no doubt in my mind cajunbama and TexAg7 are/have alters. It’s shameful.

As an aside... it would be very easy for admins to do something about alters. Just ban all accounts by that individual.

Im super naive when it comes to this I think. IMO having an alter is one of the most pathetic things there is on a message board. Just say what you wanna say on your own username. You already have anonymity. Why be a pussy and create an extra account?

That's pretty much the plan but you've got to identify the "same person."
That's not as easy as it sounds. What are you going to use? IP address? Not going to work. Most users won't have static IPs. Lots are going to be posting using mobile devices and wifi hotspots. Cookie or some other token? Easily defeated by modern browsers.
Unless you've got really stupid posters creating alts, catching them ain't that easy.

I never understood why people create alters but I do not see it being an issue as long as they are not spamming the board or harassing others.

But to answer your question a few have a single alter that gets used occasionally, then a few have several that get used a lot.
Then of course we are all alters of cajunbama...
