Objectively speaking - yea that play was pretty iconic.

Texas had absolutely zero chance of driving 98 yards in the last 2 min after they had only scored 3 in the first 58 lol, but it was a really cool exclamation point play at the end of a good rivalry game.

I know you didn't ask and I'm not a fan of either school and I don't watch other conferences as much as I do the SEC, but the player that awed me the most for Texas was Vince Young. That man was unstoppable in college.

For OU, my man Hurts is my favorite player to play for them. But the OU player that has impressed me the most over the years is Adrian Petersen.

Imagine those 2 on the same team, wow. It almost happened, but OU closed the deal on AD better than Mack.

I was surprised by Hurts at Oklahoma. He made the most of his abilities.

I was glad to see Peterson go.

Any Texas fan that doesn’t answer Earl Campbell is an Aggy.

Earl.

Met the family as a youngster & developed a friendship with his Mom Ann in particular.

Earl was that generational icon in Texas that happened to play for my favorite college & pro team. What a time to be a fan & at that impressionable age.

I am going to go with a little different answer here and say Jordan Shipley. Was a Texas high school football legend and battled through some brutal knee injuries early in his career. He is an incredible athlete and a hell of a good guy. I've had the privilege of sharing the deer blind and some campfires with him and you won't find a better Texan.

Had a little bit of a NFL career but couldn't avoid the injuries. He's crushing it now, selling Hill Country ranches and living the dream.

LINK

He can't sing worth a shite though

Oh yes, I remember him. He burned us twice, I think.

Only QB in the series to ever go 4-0 against the other team.
And those were good OU teams, but not particularly good Texas teams aside from the 1990 "Shock The Nation Tour" team. But then we got thrashed by Miami 46-3 in the Cotton Bowl. Ouch.

Another Texas QB has a more dubious Record, Ehlinger holds the record for having lost to FOUR different OU QB's (Rattler, Hurts, Murray, and Mayfield). I believe this is a NCAA record.

I can't pick just one:

Joe Washington, probably the most elusive and exciting running back I've seen at OU

AD, just violently powerful with breakaway speed and uncanny balance

Jamelle Holieway, Art on the field running the option. The smoothest wishbone QB I've ever seen (and I've seen Davis, Lott, Watts, etc).

Baker.. well he is Baker.

Defense: Leroy Selmon, Tommy Harris, Tony Casillas, and Jackie Shipp. Bosworth was an incredible player but he failed the Wil Wheaton test... I didn't like how he overshadowed the team.

I will take a shot at some Texass players I respected/hated...
Offense:
Defense: Derrick Johnson, Britt Hager
Offense: Earl Campbell, Jordan Shipley

I swear Shipley had 17 years of eligibility lol. Seem like an eternity before that guy worked his way out of the program. I was never more happy to see a longhorn disappear than that guy.

In my lifetime:

Adrian Peterson (probably the most impressive high school, college, pro specimen I have ever seen)
Roy Williams
Tommie Harris

Obviously a ton of studs on Oklahoma over the years but I thought these were special.

Texas didn’t need AD when all said and done. That 2005 team can be considered top five all time and AD wasn’t needed.
