It's still a pretty uneven trade in your favor. You boost the academics in the conference, and SEC football success from 4-6schools gives you shitloads of money

Tier One - Vanderbilt
Tier Two - Florida, Georgia, A&M (maybe?)
Tier Two (B) - Everyone else
Florida and Georgia are slightly ahead of the pack, but everyone else (with the obvious exception of Vanderbilt, an elite academic institution) is absolutely in the same "generic southern flagship school" boat.
Rest assured, no one north of the Mason-Dixon/west of the Mississippi is gleefully hiring a Tennessee or Alabama graduate but tossing an otherwise-identical resume from Kentucky or Auburn.

You have a good baseball team, no need to resort to academic comparison on a sports discussion board.

Irony warning
Look up AAU schools
Then re-write your list.

It's interesting that in this day and age where players are paid to play that we still entertain the idea that academics matter at all.
Nobody cares about academics, there is no such thing as a student-athlete anymore. This is basically the minor leagues of football, let's stop gulping down the BS that it's anything other than that.

Ironically, some of the absolute dumbest people I have ever met were grads of Vandy. I guess old fashioned common sense is something even an Ivy league school can’t teach. We’ve all met them.

Is Vanderbilt really that much better than Texas?

Vanderbilt isn't an Ivy League school. It isn't even the best private university in the South. That is Duke. One can make an argument that Emory is comparable to Vanderbilt as well.

What new schools?? The SEC doesn't get anyone for a few years. By then, Moo State could be the academic leaders of the SEC.

Four SEC institutions are members of the prestigious Association of American Universities: Florida, Missouri, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt. Prior to the addition of Missouri and Texas A&M from the Big 12, the SEC had the fewest AAU members among Power Five conferences. The Big 12 Conference had seven AAU members through the 2010–11 school year, but four of these schools left the conference in 2011 and 2012—Nebraska for the Big Ten in 2011 (a move that took effect shortly after that school was expelled from the AAU[38]), Colorado for the Pac-12 in 2012, and Missouri and Texas A&M for the SEC in 2012, leaving that conference with three AAU members. Once Texas joins, the SEC will have five AAU members to the Big 12's two.

To pile on here I've worked with a few Ivy League grads and they left a lot to be desired. The fact of the matter is the school doesn't make the person and if anybody thinks attending any school in the SEC gives them a disadvantage then that's just ridiculous... well maybe the Mississippi schools.

Your professional life is what you make of it. Your academic records are only relevant right out of school.

I agree to a certain extent. I have a person working for me who graduated from Harvard, and I've worked for people (a long time ago) who went to regular state schools. There are some schools like Vandy and the Ivy League that might get you the interview, but it still comes down to the individual long term.
