It's not about past schedule. It's about recruiting, returning starters and player development.
Why does any top program walk into a new season with rankings and expectations? Why is BAMA slated #1 overall? Because of recruiting, returners and player development...

Just Old Tardge up to his usual, insecure lil bro shenanigans.

They butt fricked Auburn in the Sugar Bowl.

I'm beginning to understand all the hate.

Oklahoma is a blue blood and one of the most prestigious programs of all time. Their resume speaks for itself.
However, OU has benefited from playing some very poor teams every nearly every season. 25.2% of OU's all-time wins have come against Kansas, Kansas State, and Iowa State. No, that's not a typo. One out of every four OU victories have been against teams with a combined record of 1,677-1,976-145.
Furthermore, OU has whipped Okie State throughout history. Okie State, for much of its history, was a bottom feeder like Kansas, K-State, and Iowa State. It only recently got over the .500 hump for all-time wins too.
In fairness, OU has amassed an impressive 201-141 record against Texas, Nebraska, Colorado, and Missouri.
OU's situation reminds me of Tennessee, to an extent. 158 of Tennessee's 400 total SEC victories, or 39.5%, are against Vanderbilt and Kentucky.

Yeah and they'll come to the SEC and stomp bottom feeders like Arkansas, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Missouri, South Carolina, and Tennessee. I'll even throw in Auburn because frick Auburn.

Look at McNeal smiling at his teammate during the course of that destruction. Now that's aggie.

I was at that game. 70-0 by the end of the 3rd. Players were basically falling down on their own just trying to run out the clock and not put any more on the board.

There is no doubt OU and Texas will have success in the SEC, just like our other major programs have. It's getting even harder out there for mid-range schools like Ole Miss and Arkansas.

Mizzou has impressive 24-67-5 and 36-65-3 records against OU and Nebraska, respectively.
Mizzou is also 57-54-9 against Kansas, a team who has won just 586 games all time, meaning 9% of Kansas's wins come against roody-poo Mizzou.

If they improve their defense they could be really good. They will be good even as they are really, they always have great offenses.
But if we are basing it off of what they have been over the past 10 years, and the results they got in the Big12(4 playoff appearances), I think they are in for a rude awakening. They will have to get better on defense.

For sure.
They're also going to experience a significant step up in the week-to-week quality of their in-conference opponents. There are some cupcakes in the SEC, but a lot of big, bad programs too, unlike the Big 8 and Big XII.

And that's a good thing for us, not a bad thing.

It is about weekly scheduling. There are no Kansas or Kansas State programs in the SEC. The other programs have years when they are comparable. I think they will do better than some on here think. But, generally, all you have to know about the Big-12 is that there is a wide margin of difference in defense. Also, when OK had the highest and most productive offense in college football history, Florida beat them and held them to 17 points. That is because Florida had a real defense and no one in the Big 12 did. Things have been better in the Big 12 lately and the SEC is not as good now. So, they will do ok but they won't dominate.
