The future of college football is grim. 30 years from now I will be talking to my grandchildren about how there used to be something called the Big 12 and the Pac 12 and how amateur athletics were, once upon a time, amateur. The events that are set to transpire this week and next will be the downfall of college football as we know it. Not all change is good.

The NIL decision and the NCAA incompetence along with the greed of all of the schools have contributed greatly to what we are now seeing.

That's too many teams. There won't be 80 teams. There will be about 32 and the rest will form their own conferences and play cfb as we know it. The top 32 will become an amateur pay for play league.

I think the future of college football is grim. Not in the sense that it will go away but in regards to enjoyment and the loss of tradition. Of course big money tends to do that and that is what this is all about when all is said and done.
Just remember folks, when you let big money become a driving force of your sport or organization, don't be surprised when big money starts dictating the rules.

You can thank Bama football and Mark Emmert. They let Bama openly pay players and punish the other schools until they forced in paying rules so the other schools won't be punished for paying them too. This is what you get. Now Bama isn't going to be able to buy all the players but tradition and CFB is going downhill quick.

I think the future of college football is being decided on the high school level.
The participation keeps dropping.

I agree. I wish the ~64 teams would breakaway from the NCAA and do their own thing. Splitting the revenue and making "divisions" that are based on geography. But we're going to have to go through this transition period where these conferences (who all have different goals) take schools they deem worthy. We are now going to have this even more juggernaut of an SEC conference who was already ahead but will now become a hegemony of college football.
The bluechip programs of college football.
PAC-12
USC
Oregon
Big Ten
OSU
PSU
Michigan
maybe Nebraska
ACC
Clemson
FSU
maybe Miami and psuedo ND.
SEC
Bama
Auburn
LSU
Georgia
Florida
Texas
Oklahoma
maybe Tennessee

He’s way off.
1. Why in the world would the B1G want Iowa St?
2. If the PAC 12 is going to take two teams from Texas there is no way that Texas tech is going to be one of them if Baylor is still available.
3. The Big 12 is not surviving losing Texas and Okie.

At this point that is my ideal scenario, because anything past 16 members and we are headed towards something I probably will not be a fan of or participate in..

I agree. I think football is on its way out, as a whole. It will take a long time (over a decade for sure), but American football will be something for history books only one day. It's just got too many problems at all levels to be sustainable.

The big12 won't survive.

Let see if you can get his tweet in here! If you can then why not do it for others to see if you and others do not want to see the tweet about all the new college football conference that he even lined up the two divisions for each conference.
