Out of Manassas, VA. Rivals lists him as a 5-star prospect but I trust 247 Sports and their ratings more.

Great pick up, I think he’ll be really good.

I’m honestly surprised you guys took him. Reminds me of Shane Lee

Not really. Lee was barely 6' and 250 when he committed. Murphy is 6'2 215 and much more fluid in coverage and better at reading plays.

Murphy has no comp to Lee, dumb post. Good pickup for the Tide.

He’s more athletic than Lee but he’s not a super fluid athlete. Good, old fashioned down hill run stopping linebacker.

From the same region of the country.

There is a clear reason he’s no longer a five star in the composite or on 247.

He could be great player don’t get me wrong but he’s about 15 years too late to be truly dominant

You have got to be joking. With the way Ohio State linebackers looked last year.

Sounds like he may have took some camp chatter from Eleven Warriors where he struggled in some drills at a camp before the future 50 and looked "stiff and not fluid" and extrapolated that into him being Shane Lee . If you see his high school film you can tell that isn't the case. It was just a bad day. He even played safety at the future 50 and got positive feedback about his movement.

Manassas (Va.) Unity Reed linebacker Shawn Murphy showed some versatility in moving to safety during 7v7 play. At 6-2, 215 pounds, he's not a small linebacker either but looked fluid and active in the secondary

At some point last year he bulked up too much according to Bone but came to Bama trimmed down and looked like his old self.

Tide or Die is right about OSU LBs. Pete Werner and Tuf Borland were soft and slow.

In his defense, most Ohio State linebackers look like Shane Lee.

It’s funny to know a bench warmer for bama is a key part of your recruiting class. Really shows how much better they are

Alabama's second and third strings get plenty of playing time vs LSU

Not really a fan of the way yall talk about him. He came in and did his best his freshman year when he wasnt expected to play. Also lined up next to another true freshman. Show him some respect.
