I'd rather have UVA/UNC than OU/TX.

Reasons:

-We already have one very large Texas school in the conference. Both would be annoying and mess up the balance of the conference.

-UT does dot get along well with others. They will try to dictate rules to everyone else and try to take over the conference. Doing anything with these people is miserable. frick em. Adding Texas will ruin the SEC.

-NC and VA are more southern in a traditional sense, and it would be cool to expand to that part of the country.

-Academics and alumni at these schools are very strong and well connected. Will raise academic profile of SEC.

I'd rather have VaTech and NCST.

You could add Stanford, Northwestern, MIT, Harvard, Yale, The University of Science, etc - and it would NEVER raise the academic profile of LSU.

LOL

UVA/UNC have no desire to be in the SEC

I couldn’t imagine the Pearl clutching that would happen if LSU played a game in Charlottesville.

My god.

Me too. But is that a realistic option?

UVA/UNC

Pipe dream. ACC founding members obsessed with their academic status and unwilling to give up all their clout in the ACC. UNC basically runs that conference. Not to mention it is a fairly stable conference with a 15 something year grant of rights.

OU/TX

Actual realistic scenario because they are in a collapsing conference that hasn't had true stability, well, ever.

Well you’re a stupid frick because you’re never getting UNC without Dook and vice-versa and NC State as well for that matter.

So what your alluding to is that OK and TX have poor academic standards, weak alumni, and aren’t well connected…interesting point of view. If the SEC really wanted to raise its academic standards, sans football, then it would dump Kentucky, Alabama, LSU, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Miss State, add OK & TX, and go after UVA, UNC, Georgia Tech, and Duke.
