How many years for a division title?
Conference title?
Playoff appearance?

No flame. Honestly asking where your expectations are. Y’all have a tough row to hoe with with Bama, Georgia, LSU and A&M on the schedule every year.

When do y’all expect to wear the crown again?

TBH we expect a tough, well prepared football team. We know its impossible to out recruit the Bamas and UGA's of the world, because 90% of teams dont recruit to that level, its unrealistic to expect us to.

Beat the teams we're supposed to, and be competitive in losses, is all we can ask for.

SEC Title by year 3 or 4
National title or Playoff Appearance by year 4 or 5 is pretty reasonable expectations if you ask me.

8 wins is a success this year.

Sounds pretty reasonable

I think this is what 95% of reasonable fans want from their program. If you team looks like this then you have a good chance to stick around for a while (and a good chance to win a lot of games).

I would bet a helluva lot of money that neither of these will happen.

the last 4 Auburn coaches have either gone undefeated or played in a title game. Dont bet the house on that not happening with Harsin.

The last 3 coaches have played in the SEC championship game on or by their 2nd season. If Auburn weren't on probation in 93, Bowden would've made 4.

I don't expect that by any means, but Harsin should have Auburn in the upper half of the West within the first few years. If he doesn't they will move on in 4 years.

I think this should be the goal for Brian Harsin at Auburn for the next two seasons. He needs to change the culture at Auburn.

Not that Gus Malzahn built a bad culture at Auburn per se, but the program that Malzahn built was not strong in its foundations. At its best, it was a house that looked real nice, and may have been real nice, but didn't sit on a strong foundation, and the house ultimately fell in.

Harsin needs to build Auburn's program from the inside out, starting with a tough mentality, discipline, and, of course, better recruiting on the offensive line and in the defensive front seven.

I expect competence.

I expect a program that is well-run and accountable.

I expect a team that is disciplined and well coached, formulates solid gameplans and makes good in-game adjustments.

I won’t set a timeline for titles/CFP berths, but I expect if Harsin is able to deliver on the above expectations those will happen sooner rather than later.

Thats about as accurate a description as I’ve seen from any rival poster

I honestly think it might be more frustrating to see your program compete at a certain high level some of the time and then see them flail around at others times than if they were just an average/above average team all the time.

And Gus was kind of a victim of that.

Gene Chizik 14-0 year 2
Gus Malzhan 12-2 year 1

exactly, you cant beat UGA and Bama in the same year then lay an egg to UCF. or Beat Bama in 2019 and then lose to Minnesota in a bowl.

Yep. He never had a “bad” year but he some very mediocre seasons and lost some games he should’ve won. I thought he might’ve turned a corner in late 2017 but we all know how it went after those big wins.

to obtain those goals, you’re going to have to recruit with the top dogs. There’s a reason those two teams you mention are always playing each other as their division champions almost every year. Maybe you can get lucky and fall into another Cam Newton. You can call 2019 a lucky year for us if you want, but it doesn’t happen without studs all over the field AND the best offensive coordinator in college.

You think it's reasonable to expect that when you're getting out-recruited every year by at least 4 teams on your schedule (Bama, Georgia, LSU, A&M)?

When has that ever been any different?

A playoff appearance or SEC title in 4 years would be absolutely fantastic. By no means do I have that expectation, though.

Really, as has been said, I want to see a disciplined well coached and consistent team. If there is one thing Gus teams lacked, it was consistency. Literally never knew which team was going to show up...

If I see a well coached team that attracts recruits this year (doesn't necessarily mean 9 or 10 wins), then I'll decide on what my expectations are for SEC Championships and National Titles will be during Harsin's tenure.

Recruits are going to wait to see what the offense and defense is going to look like. I think he did as well as he could in the transportal with being a new coach and Staff. The discipline and change of culture is already taking place. Aubie will be bigger, stronger and faster but agreed, he has to get the 4-5 star guys. Hard to do in the first year of the league.
