Wouldn’t have believed you if you told me a year ago that a safety from Detroit would be our top ranked recruit in this class lol

You would think Mike Leach could bring in very highly rated QBs and WRs every year with his system.

It's only July but yeah not a great start. Russell is still a 4* on Rivals but he dropped a lot in their last rankings. He probably falls to 3* in their next update. Not a dig against the kid, just don't think he is growing like people expected him too based on his brother.

Historically, he usually doesn't and doesn't need to to have a really really good offense.

I didn't mean to say he won't, just surprised that some high four-star types wouldn't sign with him every year given his long track record of having productive passing offenses.

We hired a player personnel director who had some Michigan connections, plus our CB coach might be our best recruiter.

We also got an Ohio LB commit who picked us over Michigan, and have several commits from Georgia, but none from Texas. It’s been a weird year.

You realize we had 4 players drop a star once they committed to State don't you?

Stars in this cycle don't mean as much since COVID messed with a lot of seasons/camps. My bigger concern would be a general lack of P5 offers throughout your class. Taylor allegedly had a bad LSU camp which resulted in a pulled offer - probably why he dropped. Not sure about the rest of your guys to be honest outside of a couple MS kids I'm familiar with.

We signed the Gatorade player of the year out of Texas last cycle

I never heard his offer was pulled, but I have read that they recently contacted him about coming back. That would be weird to pull his offer then tell him the door was open to return a few weeks later.

Probably as many as the Ole Miss group. I see a common theme here.

He was also passed for the most yards in the country last season. Being an MSU commit is the only thing that kept him from being "elite prospect " in the ranks

Why did he not have any interest from major in state schools, or OU, and any of the Big SEC teams?
