To be fair, this list is pretty shite.

Chicago at #2? nothing there outside of Green Street Meats

Overland Park, ks?!?! It’s literally a white flight suburb of Kansas City, Mo…anything there belongs to KCMO

Agreed on both. They got #1 right though

As far as I’m concerned, KC and Memphis are 1a and 1b…everything else is a drop off. That Memphis dry rub is

KC has decent BBQ. That list looks like it was made by a vegan.

Stupid stuff keeps popping on these lists because these lists are bullshite.

Anything you read about anything you buy, is advertising, since all the journos can now only get money doing that.

Ever wonder how someone like Meghan Markle got "famous". She was a C list actress that poured all of her money in publicists and placing articles about yourself.

Ever wonder why all of a sudden there's 100's of articles about Bautista? He's trying to get on the A-List, so his publicist is paying all these online outlets to write stupid inane articles about him.

It's the same thing for crappy food like Chicago and Brooklyn barbecue, some rich count gets a restaurant, so he pays for a bunch of good reviews in the papers and on online review sites.

Agreed. But KC and Texas and the like are very good at Brisket. But we in the south own Pork. Check the trophies at big Bobs in Decatur Al and the Memphis BBQ joints. It’s All Good!

Every town/state has it’s good bbq joint. Best joints I’ve been to were in KC, Texas, Alabama, and hole in the wall joints in Mississippi.

These lists are always shite. Birmingham would be top 5 if any of these writers actually traveled and ate the BBQ

I've never understood how these lists get made, or honestly even the debate in general.

Like is it supposed to be an average of the city? Or is just the best one in that city?

The styles that are associated with the locations make sense. I like KC style BBQ sauce for example. But like every single place? But outside that, shouldn't it be actual BBQ places, not cities?

And are they going around and eating at all these places? Trying every BBQ place in a city?

I find the entire concept to be bullshite.

1. Kansas City, Missouri
2. Chicago
3. Houston
4. Cincinnati
5. Memphis, Tennessee
6. Louisville, Kentucky
7. St. Louis
8. New York
9. Minneapolis
10. Overland Park, Kansas

These clowns don't realize that the real/best barbecue doesn't come from the city....it comes from the COUNTRY!

Amen

Was engaged to a woman from Austin, she was big on the beef brisket from The Salt Lick, took her to a little place hanging off the causeway in Guntersville, Legion Field Bar-B-Q.... couldn't convince her to get the pork ribs. Until she tried one and then I was left with cow.
