Is Jimbo's offense outdated?

Was having this discussion with some Aggies in another topic.
I pointed out that Jimbo's offense is complicated with a lot of reads, long developing routes, and doesn't spread the field well.
It reminds me of what 2018 LSU ran and I can't see Aggie actually winning a title with it.
Of course, Aggies disagree and just want to blame Mond (whom Jimbo started for 3 years).
So a simple poll, upvote if Jimbo's offense is outdated, downvote if not.

Yes! He will need to adapt.

An actual, (moderately) non-trolling football discussion about A&M from SidewalkTiger?
Somebody go to his house and see if he’s OK.
I don’t really care if he is. Just want to know.

He has to have a very dominant defense paired with his offense.

Dumbo’s high powered offense scored one touchdown against Blow Pelini’s stifling defense

To me, the problem with that style of offense today, is you can't often punch above your talent class and beat the elite teams because you can't score with them.
Not to say you cant be good, 2018 LSU went 10-3, won a NY6 bowl, and finished #6 in the country.
At Florida State, Jimbo usually had the better players in nearly every game he played. Even his championship game was against 2013 Auburn who wasn't as talented as 2013 FSU.
2020 A&M had a massive advantage in that they returned a ton of starting experience in a year which that was even more important than normal.
If they'd had a better offense and not scored 17 and 13 on shite defenses in Vandy and LSU, and made the Bama game more competitive, it's possible they parlay their 9-1 season into a playoff appearance instead of the Orange Bowl.

Only scored one touchdown in 2019 too.
That's two touchdowns in two games.

This is the problem to me.
You can't stifle any of the very good to elite teams on defense anymore.

He’s still trolling. Don’t fall for it.

Does he call his own plays?

You play to win the game
If your QB is having a bad night and your running back is running at will you keep feeding the running back
LSU was scared to tackle him

In fairness, the Vandy game was the season opener without any non-conference warmups and the LSU game was in rain and Mond was like 30% passing. I don’t think either are an indictment of Fisher’s offense.
The bigger indictment was Bama. Jimbo’s conservative offense won’t be able to keep up with explosive offenses and that seems to be the trend of top tier teams. This season, it will be interesting to see how much of their offensive struggles and inability to put teams away was Mond’s inconsistency/inefficiency vs. Fisher’s conservative mentality.

He's beaten LSU 2 of the 3 years he's been at A&M, so kind of odd that a LSU fan would ask this, unless he's just trolling.

Yeah Spiller was averaging 5 ypc that night, broke their will.

Absolutely!
Short of the Defense Department, Jimbo’s offense is one of the most anemic passing attacks in football. This ball control, run the clock offense, is not designed to come back from a deficit. It might work against the little sisters of the poor, but won’t match up with a modern, high powered offense.
Talent is not the issue. There has been a steady supply of highly recruited wide receivers going to aggy only to block on running plays, rot on the bench, or transfer.
Ironically, Mack used the Alabama game as the reason to remake the Texas offense from a spread to a run first, ball control offense.
Saban recognized a Big 12 type system offense with a team of 5* and high 4* players AND a quality defense would be tough to beat.

Wow - never thought I’d see the day where you talked football (and actually made sense). You should do this more often.

Why'd they throw the ball 34 times then?
And I wouldn't call scoring 13 points "running at will."

LSU was running basically the same type of offense in 2018 when Aggie beat them.
If beating bad LSU teams is Aggies' only goal, then Jimbo's offense is fine, I thought his ultimate goal was to win championships though.

Plenty of teams played better defenses than Vandy in their openers and scored more points.
That's just an excuse.

LSU only scored 6 points less than A&M with opt outs, losing 17/22 starters from the year previous, and true freshmen backup quarterbacks after the starter went down.
LSU also basically replaced their entire offensive staff for the 2020 showing.
Also interesting that both true freshman quarterbacks threw for more yards on less attempts (each) than a senior starter that a "QB guru" started for 3 seasons.
