Check out the forecast highs for cities like Portland, OR and Spokane, WA. Unbelievably hot. Will likely set records across several states.

Can’t make Sequoia without Heat and Fire. It’s how the seed germinates.

quote:

Giant sequoia cones are serotinous, which means that fire on the forest floor causes them to dry out, open and release their seeds. This adaptation ensures that the tree times the release of most of its seeds to coincide with fire, which creates ideal conditions for regeneration success.

It’s those damn trees that have been setting the record breaking fires in the Northwest.

A town in British Columbia reached 116 degrees. That's pretty far north.

Hmmm... beat the previous record by one degree from 1965 and 1981.

That's odd because I have already seen this heat wave blamed on global warming. Did we have global warming in 1965 and 1981? I seem to recall fears about an oncoming ice age about that time.***

Weather =/= Climate

It is poor logic for those people who are saying that this is what proves global warming, just as when one argues cold snaps disprove it.

The Earth has gotten warmer by a couple of degrees in my lifetime. The cause is what people argue about. The Arctic and Antarctic have really heated up since we started collecting data in those parts of the Earth. That would be data that would support the "global warming" narrative. Sea temperatures increasing over time are also proof of it.

When you leave Portland headed east ....up and over the mountain and into the gorge ...
On the Oregon and Washington side on the plateaus along the gorge ...108 at this tie during the summer is not abnormal.

We would work on the wind farms at 6am and stop at 10am if the guys could not handle the heat .....

We did discover the best use for a 200 foot wind tower ....Each morning on that ranch ....all the black angus would line up in the shade of the tower and follow it all day to get a few degrees cooler. No trees up there ...So, Shade Trees for Cows.

Meteorologists are saying it's a once in a millenium thing. Of course, the Global Warming people are going SEE? SEE???

Me, I hope Portland and Seattle melt right into the rivers and seas.
