Honestly... the more I think about it the more I think they will go to 16 sooner than later.

It makes things simple. You get all 10 conference winners and 6 wildcards. That virtually guarantees no 10 ten team is ever left out. This also gives the top 8 schools a home playoff game. I think it's a forgone conclusion it won't be very long before the top 4 schools in a 12 team will start complaining how they are getting screwed out of several million dollars of revenue b/c of the first round bye.
