He supposedly had Bianco locked up. That's kinda what I was getting at. I think he thought that he had Sully locked up and then it all went sideways then was back on again then got shut down by one side or the other or maybe both.

I don't think he forced Paul to retire at all. I think Paul physically couldn't do it anymore and that was causing him to not be able to be an effective coach anymore. I also think that if you got Paul in a moment of complete honesty he will tell you that he should have retired before the season.

I think Woody had his man 99% locked up in Sully, but either couldn't convince everyone involved or missed the scandal when doing due diligence or Sully got cold feet. That is the type of big-time splash hire he's known for.

If 2020 had been a normal year, he might have.

Selfishly, I am glad It worked out as it did. I went to 4 of the 5 games LSU played in down in Eugene and savored it all. Got to hang out with the players after the games by the team bus. Voice was toast after yelling all weekend but worth it. It was a great Last Dance in Eugene and they gave it all they had. I was hoping he'd go out like Mike Martin but it wasn't in the cards and Vols got our number right now.
