Trying to set aside any biases, what does today’s matchup look like? Is MSU putting its number one out today? Thoughts on ND’s pitcher for today’s game?

Bednar is most likely to start. He is probably our best pitcher as far as a starter. He has good stuff, just very young but he seems to handle pressure well.

We flipped Bednar and McCleod in the Regional but that might have been more about matchups. So, we might see Bednar first but Lemonis is hard to read and/or predict.
Don't know much about ND pitching but their record in the ACC suggests its at least a decent staff. If both Bednar and McCleod are sharp and Preston is ready for mid inning relief, I feel pretty good.

Whoever does pitch needs to be careful with Notre Dame’s cleanup guy Niko Kavadas. He is a home run beast. I swear this series worries me.

I think Notre Dame goes 2-0.

You are going to see Houston Harding if we go game 3. I really like his stuff and he probably should have been our Sunday guy.

Stone Simmons also gives good mid inning relief.
And of course Sims and Smith. I’d like to see Bednar go 7 innings today and Smith close and we get a win. If we can save Sims for tomorrow I like our chances

You’re probably right. We will be lucky to steal 1 game
Our bats won’t keep up with NDs offense. We are likely toast

Bednar is getting the start today.
He's been our Saturday guy all year, but really he's our number 1. Numbers are way better than MacLeod, who has been our Friday guy.
ND's pitcher might be a problem for us. He isn't a strike out/shut down pitcher but he throws strikes and pitches to contact. (really that's the MO on all three of their starters) Our offense doesn't strike out alot, and uses the walk to create runs. That helps us against high octane strikeout pitchers, but against guys that pitch to contact it can be problematic. We tend to jump on early strikes and if we aren't making good contact, the ND pitchers are going to be able to get outs fast. Gonna be hard for us to run a pitcher out of the game on pitch counts that is being effective. They're liable to throw a complete game in under 100 pitches, if they're on.
That being said, we've got a station to station, singles/doubles type of offense. ND won't be able to close the flood gates if we get rolling, cause they're not prone to getting that big K.
