Honestly, though I'm a huge Mac Jones fan, it's understandable that he was a mid first round pick since his mobility is limited and the NFL is now following the college mode of mobile qbs.

But why did Fields drop to 11? I'd probably not make for a good NFL GM but I'd have picked Fields before the qb from North Dakota State.

NFL and GMs overthink a lot of things and get a lot wrong.

The best QBs taken the last couple of years were Mahomes (10th, 2nd QB), Watson (12th, 3rd QB), Allen (7th, 3rd QB), Lamar Jackson (32nd, 5th QB).

Here were the QBs taken ahead of those guys: Trubisky, Mayfield, Donald, Rosen (ahead of Lamar).

I saw 2 games where he was outpassed by the opposing QB by at least 190 yards last season. That's 25% of his games.

Who knows. He's by far the most athleticly gifted QB of the past 2 draft classes though.

I see a lot of people judging his tape from last year, but shite, he had a lot more tape from last year then Trey Lance. I think he's gonna be a good QB once he gets developed.

I wasn't impressed with him, I think he can make it but his defense read ability isn't high level.

That may just be because of lack of development.

He was allegedly a complete disaster in interviews when it came to football concepts.

I'm a little surprised he fell to 11 as well, and it's not an ideal situation for him. He's going to be the starter up there and thrown into the fire.

I'm surprised Mac Jones went in the first round. As usual with BAMA QB's, they have the best of everything. Jones isn't going to have the best anything (besides coach) when he goes up to New England. Taking a BAMA QB in the first round is always a stupid idea.

They're used to throwing to wide open receivers behind a dominant O-Line and etc.

The NFL draft is an educated guess.

This is a thread about Justin Fields. Not sure why you are compelled to make it about The University of Alabama

Well the issues with the epilepsy came out last weekend so that may have played a factor.

At least he is well prepped for Chicago weather after playing at tOSU. Jones is going to have a learning curve to deal with the New England weather

He can’t read the field. He almost exclusively threw to his first target. There was a play in the NC that we were down a player, and Fields still just rifled a ball into coverage.

There’s a reason he got beat out under UGA’s more complicated scheme.

He also simply wasn’t that good against good defenses last year (other than Clemson)

Last 5 games against teams that finished ranked

Justin Fields
2019 Clemson: 30/46 320 1 td 2 int
Indiana: 18/30 300 2 td 1 int
Northwestern: 12/27 114 0 td 2 td
Clemson: 22/28 385 6td 1 int
Bama: 17/33 194 1 td 0 int

99/164 (60%) (1313 yards 8ypa) 10 td 6 int

Big Mac
Texas AM: 20/27 435 4 td 1int
Georgia: 24/32 417 4 td 1int
Florida: 33/43 418 5td 1int
Notre Dame: 25/30 297 4td 0int
Ohio State: 36/45 465 5td 0int

136/177 (76%) (2032 11.5ypa) 22td 3int

Honestly I think Field was mostly disinterested this year. Dude can play, but he will have a learning curve with the NFL. At eleven that is a great gamble for Chicago

This. I was terrified my Niners were going to take him. He takes a lot of sacks for a mobile QB, and consistently panics under pressure.

I'm guessing KS's logic with taking Trey Lance is he's raw, talented, and can be molded into an even better player as the season progresses. Just hoping his playing inferior competition won't be an issue.

Field never saw the wind blow in Columbus like the "windy city." Never.
