Must mean Primo is seriously considering leaving. That’s my only guess. So they’re reaching out to make sure they have someone to fill the last scholarship in case he does.

I don't think it really means anything other than we are always trying to stay prepared - Primo could stay in the draft, someone on the roster could decide tomorrow to leave, etc.
College basketball rosters in 2021 and forward are constantly changing - coaches have to be prepared for anything.

Unless Primo completely blindsided them about his draft intentions, they'd have just kept Wilson on board.
