He does everything Nate Oats and Co. are looking for in a “Blue Collar” player – hustling for loose balls, crashing the boards, guarding hard on and off the ball. He is a player who makes it evident in his game that he is hungry to win and hungry to improve. Johnson possesses qualities you like to see in a multi-year guard who adds value to your culture and on the court.

I hope I'm wrong because it seems inevitable that he's going to be signing with us, but to me this is just a polite way of saying "great kid, but not really a P-6 talent."

Isn't Johnson supposed to be a pretty highly regarded player?

There isn't a ton out there on him, because he isn't a highly rated kid, but i've seen some that insinuate that he's due to be a riser when rankings update after summer ball.

I don't mind taking a slightly lower rated kid that projects to be a multi year player every once in a while. I don't want to be doing it annually, but having one sprinkled in every few years is probably a good thing for some continuity from year to year. Especially when it is a tough ballhandling guard from in state that matches the culture that we want and that is kind of what this kid sounds like.
