If I were starting an NFL franchise and could pick runningbacks in their prime, I would go with

Walter Payton
Barry Sanders

"2 to 3 years?"

You said "peak" You didn't say 2 to 3 year "peak"

Gore rushed for 16,000 career yards BTW and Rogers was pretty damn dominant for a season.

What is interesting is that Barry Sanders didn't even start for Oklahoma State until I believe his senior year......Thurman did. Also interesting is that they are both from Wichita, Kansas, but I'm not sure they played on the same high school team.
